Re: USB question
not really working to make them networked, i am wanting to make it so they can both share the scanner or printer.. The only way I see that working is if both systems are networked and the machine with the printer attached has file and print sharing enabled. Even with that I don't see scanner sharin...

Re: USB question
Are these two computers networked yet? Can they share files etc across a network? If they are not networked they will need to be networked. This link will get you started networking two MAC computers. If they are already networked then this link will get you going with setting up file and print shar...

Re: epson printer fix-it question stylus photo 2200

Re: epson printer fix-it question stylus photo 2200
OK, I feel this urge to add my own totally off topic material to this thread. This being February means that along with another birthday the registration on my truck was due for renewal. My trusty truck is an old GMC Yukon XL. Registration and new plates also means it is time for state mandated emis...

Re: Thermocouple Switching
Got it, give me a few days as my shipping department (wife) had an argument with the ice and lost. She sends things from work and should be back there in a few days.

Re: Cell phone connection to compfuser ?
Hi all. Is there any model or way a cell phone with internet service can be interfaced to a PC to ease handling (full keyboard, full screen, saving, downloading) browsing on a place with no landlines nor other web service for the PC ? Miguel When I travel I just use a 3G card in my laptop which eli...

Re: what is the basic function of an "ENCODER"
Read this link and note the Output Types. I would guess you have a quadrature type output. If output A leads output B by 90 degrees it denotes one direction if output B leads A by 90 degrees it denotes the opposite direction. Both A & B should put out pulses with one leading the other to determ...

Re: Thermocouple Switching
Hi Ya Lemp If you want to reconsider the use of thermocouples I may have something that can help you out. I do quite a bit of work with temperature. Several years ago we converted a few large systems from Type J to Type K. The systems were using Temperature Transmitters similar to those carried by O...

Re: Thermocouple Switching
Hi Ya Lemp. You may want to give this a read. When you get through it there is a good example of multiplexing thermocouples using one of these as the mux. Looks like it should work. I would not use relays to switch the TC inputs. I have used switches designed for thermocouples with good results but ...

Hi Ya MrAl
Yeah, I think it is a catch 22. As mass storage grows so goes file systems to address it.

Re: wireless router questions...
Hi Ya DAC There are wireless range extenders but it would require power between the two points. The biggest problem you face with distance is signal strength and quality. A few years ago myself and a neighbor did some experiments. He is about 1,000 feet down the road and line of sight. I made a few ...

Re: Anyone have/use an SD card reader?
Hi MrAl Actually exFAT (Extended File Allocation Table) is likely a good thing. It is supported with Windows XP SP2 & SP3 as well as Vista SP1 and naively in Windows 7. Therefore any current version of Windows XP or later should have no problem reading the file system. Right now my two higher en...
