Sometimes, when you have an idea, you have to think about what you are doing and approach it from a completely different perspective. Yours is one of those.

Sounds like that motor would have a 7.5 degree step angle and yes 48 steps per revolution. Kind of coarse, I think.

The Bitscope BS50 that I have is definitely not a high end tool but is small, pocketable and a nice tool for looking at things like keyboard data streams, parallel port data, small micro port data, stuff like that. Sometimes the data is a few hundred milliseconds in length. It gets me by when I cann...

I have the Bitscope device and one thing I like is the protocol they use allows you to write some neat custom applications communicating directly with their hardware using register commands, etc. Very clever approach. The Bitscope website has some fascinating articles on the design tact taken with a...

Edd, thanks for the lowdown on the resistor wire. Fascinating info also on Philba's radio!! Au Le Docteur When?: “What be goin‘ on in dat outhouse ….…..….it be goin’ to BLOW ? Actually the avatar and name (obvious to those watchers of BBC) are a tongue in cheek play on DR. WHO, the longe...

I have done this and gotten pretty good sounding results. I think I used r2r values of 10K/20K(20k = 10k *2). Didn't bother with a filter though you can (passive). I used software like CoolEdit 2000 to edit the sound file and save to the PCM format. I believe it also lets you save without the header...

Just Record sounds on a pc in windows PCM format and then strip the header and store on an eprom. Use a small amplifier and a r2r-resistor d2a array and clock the data out of the eprom at the right rate. Cake!!

Once wet, you've connected battery voltage to every node in the phone. It's been "electrocuted". Drying after that leaves you a dry dead phone.

Now that's just stupid.

I don't believe I have ever heard of resistor wires. So they used different metals/gauges/lengths of wire with set resistance (like ni-chrome)? Or was there just a resister in-line with a cloth covered wire. Never have noticed that in old equipment. EDD... do you have the history of this?
