Re: Western Electric Vacuum Tubes
Reply from Mark at BlueGlow Electronics: small punch is pretty close to wire mesh, they are the earlier made of these and some say they sound better. I think the large hole tubes are just as good sound wise. There is no electrical difference, just difference in how the holes were punched into the m...

Re: Western Electric Vacuum Tubes
My sister and her husband were in to Tube Audio Equipment, back in the 90's. A lot were newer designs that were Pre-Amp, and even Main Amplifiers. I'll see if they have heard of this term. They got back to me. But they too have never heard that term as well. :( Using the link I first gave, I looked...

Re: Western Electric Vacuum Tubes
Hmmm......... I wonder if it is just some term that some of the younger Vacuum Tube enthusiasts use, because they thought it was more appropriate? My sister and her husband were in to Tube Audio Equipment, back in the 90's. A lot were newer designs that were Pre-Amp, and even Main Amplifiers. I'll s...

Re: Western Electric Vacuum Tubes
Yeah, I've never heard the term "Punch" either. I did a quick skim over the wikipedia page: Vacuum Tube . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vacuum_Tubes But didn't come up with that term on that page. Though there are multiple links on the subject of Vacuum Tubes on the page. Thou...... I seem...

Additional: Just want too give you guys a bit of a warning about these Blue & Black Armored Wires, that have been in Dollar Stores, or on the racks near the register check outs. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/YnAAAOSwDdBkYgeZ/s-l500.jpg I had a gaming headset from a friend come in, that uses th...

Re: Antenna for Cell Phone!
If you are referring to the "sticker" antennas, no. They actually tend to do a bit of shielding and reduce the factory antenna range. You would need an active booster / repeater. Not sure what would work with the current 5G (5th Generation) protocol, but I'm sure you could find out. I eou...

Re: Battery pack for Ivation cordless tool
I agree with dyarker, Try that, or go to a Battery Plus+ Store, and see what they have. That will work as a replacement. I've got a Altocraft Drill/Screw Gun that is going to need a new 18V NiCad battery. I bought it for about $20.00. I can get the replacement battery for it, but it will cost over $...

Yeah,
I kinda think some of these last postings are just spamming attempts.
But they also got some of us to start talking about some subjects.

Re: Contact (David Ponting)
On-line search gave a December 2004 reference to a December 2003 article about an adjustable resistive load. Is that the one? I did not find the article itself. To be resistive I'm guessing FETs instead of humongous wire-wound pots. And cmikowski has not logged in again. Oh well . . . Yup, that's t...

Re: Contact (David Ponting)
I checked my 2003 Nuts&Volts CD-ROM Disc, and found a December article by David Ponting.
But there was no contact info with it.

Re: microphone parabolic
I think he is talking about this article in Nuts&Volts: https://www.nutsvolts.com/magazine/article/the_big_ear But, I think there was one article back in the 90's also. Only I don't have any of my old mag's any more, so I'm not certain. :| And I only transferred 1999 to 2004 mag's to CD's, and I...
