Re: small electronic motors
I've got 'em,too. I thought about a 'whirligig'. (Those wind vanes with moving scenes, like a guy sawing, or bird flapping). Maybe a plastic plane model, where the prop drives the motor, & powers LED machine guns (blinking)& illum.cockpit. Or a music box. Why does my mind meander? Does a cap...

Re: two quickie questions;
Believe it or not, I have an OLD ECG x-over, which lists some Heath #'s, and I found a list on the web which had a better x-over. Mostly op-amps & TV IF decoders. As far as the tubes, a co-worker wants some, but if you need some,I'm sure I can send them. But I'd imagine the 2)6L6's are the covet...

Or, daisy-chain them with IR x-mit & rcvr to make an 'invisible fence', with the last connected to a lamp

two quickie questions;
A) I found a Baldwin P-61 tube organ ( 30-12au7's, 18-12ax7's, 2-6L6's, & a 5U4GB). More valuable whole, or in parts ? B) I acquired a 'retired' guy's stash.(R.I.P.) Lots of Heath xistors & IC's (417#'s,442#'s,443#'s). ECG992 (a quad 741), & an LM566, & several 4066 bi-lat switches. ...

Re: Video Camera Detector Schematic?
AHHHH. Passive. Well,that was my $.02 . Maybe the larger rod, or what about an IF signal? Beating the 15,750hz against a harmonic may boost sensitivity (like biasing a photo-trans.)

Re: Video Camera Detector Schematic?
gadgeteer, i'd've thought you'd just make your own from scratch. i think ECG & R-Shk sell video chips w/built-in osc's. output that to a TO-3 trans,& you should be running. but for pwr consumption, i'd imagine a square wave, PWM'd to a short duty cycle would maintain range & effect with ...

Re: Detector?? Ha!!
MrAl,You should write a book. That's the first time it's been thoroughly explained. I noted from a diagram showing the rectification effect that by only giving the fwd pulses, it basically sets a new 'ground plane',at about 1/2 of the rcvd amplitude (or 1/4 of orig.signal). So,thought I, A)would a b...

Detector?? Ha!!
My textbooks fail the following question; Why/How does a diode 'detect' AM-RF ?? The L-C tank under the antenna tunes to the desired freq; and after the diode a low-pass cap shunts RF to gnd, with a hi-ohm resistor to prevent loading. Now, as the signal varies in amplitude, the voltage drop over the...

Re: circuit design
P71, depending on load current, you'll probably want to look at a hi-amp NPN-Darlington transistor. 2N6388 ??? MOS (NO-static!!) TO-220A case, 8A Max load. Or a hi-amp triac (mostly also TO220 cases), and run at the lower voltage. But the triac gate (assuming it's on the power side, not the load sid...

Re: ¿ A very different approach for circuit boards ?
Analogee, I liked your paper idea; But maybe a sheet of adhesive plastic laminate would hold better. Or sandwich the copper between two sheets & poke terminals through. Or stick the copper foil on one sheet, stick the SMT's to the pads, bond with conductive epoxy, & vacuum seal the whole thi...

Re: Resources for Switching Power supplies
Something I haven't seen mentioned on power supply posts: Can they be set-up as PWM's for variable output voltage? And, like a class-c amp, will an LC tank restore sine & dampen RF noise & voltage spikes ????

What about something like silvered mylar? Deposit copper on a flexible sheet ( like those t-shirt iron-ons),then the printer sprays heat activated adhesive. But the copper might tear. Or those 'white-out' rollers; roll out copper tape,w/heat activated adhesive. But I think the paste would bleed when...

Oy, what a long post!!! So to offer addenda; A) energy out = energy in + misc.losses (<100% eff.) B)Laws or thermo dynamics stand. C) electro-perpetual motion? impossible D) Mechanical perpetual motion? impossible E) every mech. perpetual motion scheme involves either a loaded member ( a spring ),or...

If Y'all want to get crazy,let's get crazy. The movie 'Predator' depicts the alien with blurred invisibility. TECHNICALLY, that IS possible,but you'd have to be able to affect the absorption & retention potential of the electrons in the media so that the greatest probability amlpitude is to rele...

Re: OK , so i have nothing better to do !
Dac, I hear you, but I have these few working clock-radios (LED CLOCK) , and I'm thinking 'what use can I derive from a stable square-wave source of known frequency',especally when most clocks have a 'seconds' output pin on the main chip. Do I hear dig-voltmeter, or logic probe, or freq-counter? Hey...
