Re: Audiophiles nessecity?
Setec Are those commas or zeros in the pricing. If commas, I put together a million dollar system in less than 2 minutes. Great discounts though at up to 50% off. Mmmmm-I wonder what my current Visa limit is at. 300 Gs for one speaker  . When I started this thread, it was only based on absur...

Re: Linux question
What is the best version of LInux and where can I download it? Also, how does dual booting work and how do I get it? Is it like having 2 different computers or can I access what I have on Linux on my current OS Vista and vice versa? The best version of Linux is a pure matter of preference and only ...

Re: Cant take ownership of folder
Now one more thing, how to set the security so that internet intruders can not get in on some given folder like "MySecrets". Any ideas? If an attacker is already so deep into your system that he's browsing files there isn't much you can do to stop him besides pulling the plug. The excepti...

Re: Cellular (800Mhz) antennas/boosters?
Have you heard of a Femtocell before? Depending or your telephone or Internet provider it might be an option for you. I think At&t is the only US carrier offering them at the moment but Verizon is expected to offer them soon and possibly others soon after.

Re: LED Light problems
If you're hard wiring the LEDs you should probably remove all other circuitry that isn't the LED or resistor. Sometimes nightlights flicker when the light they put out is reflected back into the sensor (LDR) that makes them only come on at night. Pull everything out and your problem may go away, plu...

Re: LED Light problems
Out of curiosity is your power supply outputting DC? Have you tried powering all of the LEDs individually to rule out faulty manufacturing? How far apart are the lights? Do you have only a single pair of wires running the whole length to power the LEDs?

Re: Virus/Internet Protection Software
After hearing someone talking about routers a thought struck me that might help explain how routers act as a firewall. You can think of it this way, without a router you have a phone number that if I had the desire I could find by calling every number 000-000-0000, 000-000-0001, 000-000-0002... Even...

Re: Virus/Internet Protection Software
Sounds like you got it. It is true that hackers, worms and bots work through the IP space scanning ports that might be vulnerable to attack. Seems there should be a way to get those sites banned or something. That would be nice but for various reasons it's not feasible. You do have options similar t...

Re: Vehicle Speed Threshold Trigger
In the PIC run a timed loop of sufficient speed, within that loop count the number of tranisitions. A little math later you've got a finished project. It may be helpful to Google "PIC frequency counter".

Do you run as a limited user? Do you login to Windows with a password? You might try running CHKDSK and rebooting to see where that gets you. When all else fails here's a lengthy set of options provided by Microsoft MSDN - Taking Ownership

Re: Virus/Internet Protection Software
The Windows firewall offers only inbound protection. You can set the Windows firewall to not allow exceptions and it will block certain things like uPnP, Printer Sharing, etc... As a result of the Windows firewall being enabled by default in XP SP2 interaction-less infection rates of computers runni...

Re: ipod touch with a different OS
As far as I know the iPod Touch cannot have Linux installed on it, the last known supported iPod was the 5th Gen Video and to a lesser extent the iPod Classic. Most iPhone/iPod Touch apps are written in C (XCode) so that's in your favour but unless you have a Mac to download and run the Apple SDK ap...
