Gentlemen, Please refrain from any "attacks" or whatever they may be called, even if originally thought to have been done in jest. It only takes away from the original conversation. Should there be some sort of friction not related to the post, please take it "outside" via PM's. ...

I, too, look forward to any post he may make. While not the very first book
on electronics I ever read, his were there very early on. Thank you for
joining Mr. Mims.

Okay I'm totally wrong (again) please accept my sincere appologies. We all have our off days. Tomorrow is a new day. To all so far, Thanks for all the help, conjecture, pointers, lessons and schematics. Due to work, family and the looming holidays, I probably won't get to any construction u...

Thanks Steve,

I'll try that after I get through with this one. Just to clarify, the 1M resistor
goes from the emitter of Q2 to the base of Q1. Don't want to miss any
connections.

Thanks again,

Bigglez and Steve, Okay, I saw the statements about gain previously, but seeing as how it had been very late when I was reading those, they didn't register until now. Steve, yours is 100 (10k/100), and mine is 5 (10k/2k). Bigglez, In changing the gain like that, how would that affect the base bias s...

Bob, About 1/2 as many 06's as 04's, a few 2n2222's and assorted others. Starting super simple and will move up later. Yeah, op-amps will be coming soon enough, but for now I want to use as much on hand stock as possible. I thought about that reason when it was pointed out by Steve (C1 direction). A...

I almost forgot to mention, one of my suggestions was to connect a resistor in series with C3 (the emitter bypass cap). MrAl, I ran some sims using your values and they seem to work very well in this circuit, except for the C3/series resistor. That really put the kabosh to pre-amp. Removing the res...

To borrow a famous movie quote:"What we have here is, failure to communicate." At least on my part. All simulations were run by changing all 3 caps to the same value, ie: C1, C2 and C3 = 100uF etc. That being said... Steve, your design is one I will try when I am finished with this ...

Mic Pre-Amp

Many of you will recall the thread started by brodave38 about amplifying headphone output. Near the end I sort of took over, so I wanted to move my project to a new thread. My son has taken up guitar - working on his 2nd year now - and he has really come along. As anyone who has ever gotten fairly g...

With aluminum electrical contacts? Sounds like a plastic model, not an actual jet engine for use in RC planes etc. I could be mistaken. How about some clarification MrAl. What kind of "model" was it? Jwax, I'm well aware of the hobbyist arena and was thinking years ago of building a "...

MrAl wrote:...a model Jet engine...
I think a model of a jet engine would be subject to much less vibration
than a real jet engine, and a lot less rpm's.

Ah, but you don't have a website listed on your profile either, which shows your consideration for others. As for the personal "ego" thing, some of the sites that I was able to get to had some interesting looking links that I would have liked to read (so as to increase my knowledge). Other...

Disaster or not, yours is a fully functional site. Many of the sites either don't exist or are so disabled as to be just the index page. Some of those that don't exist have been victims of the ever changing webhost scene, such as AOL, XOOM, etc., others seem to have just been let go for whatever rea...
