High speed video

I was explaining how the picture tube of a TV works to my 9 year old because our digital camera catches the glitches in the frames and he asked me why. I am curious to know if anyone has seen a video (preferably downloadable) taken with a high speed camera of a regular TV drawing it's frames? I woul...

Re: Need DIY keyboard emulator serial to PS/2 plans

Welcome to the party hackles! That actually makes sense to do it all in software. If I were going to do it I would use the parallel port since it is less obsolete than RS232. The ideal app would be to use USB - I dont think its going anywhere any time soon. You can use a PIC18F2550 and hack through ...

Re: Need DIY keyboard emulator serial to PS/2 plans

Here are a few more links that will help you out: http://www.computer-engineering.org/ps2protocol/ http://www.beyondlogic.org/keyboard/keybrd.htm Note the term "scan code" - which does not match the ASCII code of the chars. Also, the keyboard sends scan codes not only when you press a key ...

Re: Need DIY keyboard emulator serial to PS/2 plans

It is doable with a uC but the p/s2 keyboard is not as simple as you might think. Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_%28computing%29 Esp. the part under "Control processor". There is a lot more info out there, too. If you find some microcontroller code that uses a keyboard an...

Re: Best Buy

I am with MrAl on this. I would march into best buy (with receipt) and get ahold of the manager. I would bet he/she will help you out with this.

Let us know what happens!

Re: GOLD

If nobody answers here, I would ask a jeweler and see what they say. I don't know if this would work but how about a heat gun? Like the kind you can get from home depot. It might stink like crazy but it might work (by melting it away)???

And, sorry to hear about your house.

Re: to project or not to project....

I don't know which LCD module you were looking at but you could get something like this, too: http://cgi.ebay.com/Graphic-Matrix-LCD-Module-LCM-JHD-12864-E-128X64_W0QQitemZ200392901987QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2ea8590563 Still pretty easy to use and you can put gfx on them, too ...

Re: to project or not to project....

I have used LCD's more times than I care to count. Once you get the hang of it, it's cake. Also, PS2 keyboards use serial data so they are easy to use with a micro, too. BUT, for some one with no uC experience, it may seem daunting - but there are a slew of projects out there you can learn from. And...

Cheap power inverter

My wife was using a 200 watt Whistler inverter in the car to charge her laptop battery. I wasn't there when it happened but it started whining (like a TV does when something goes awry). Smells a little bit, too. I am thinking that it is one or more mosfets that are overheating. But, it seems like th...

Re: Town flood, power outage, backup power ideas?

We live out in the sticks (5 acres). Our power used to go out alot. But, we got a generator and now it doesn't go off as much - go figure... Anyway, our generator is 7.5kW, I believe. Our house is mostly electric. This generator is able to run our 240v water well pump, *or* our central air condition...

Re: Funky Pot Problem

Yeah - I am just going to replace them. I will wait until another project comes up to where I need to order something and then order a bunch of stuff for multiple projects. I am a cheapskate and I hate paying shipping (even though mouser and digikey are fair). Until I had the problem with the pots, ...

Hmmm. The bottle says that it contains 50% Isopropal Alcohol and the only other ingredient it lists is water.

I soaked it in rubbing alcohol for about an hour taking it out a couple times to rotate it a bunch. It didn't do any good :(
