Re: led that does not appear to need a current limiting resi
BTW...I've seen 9V batteries die much faster than the LEDs do when coupled directly....
Anyway, there are tons of LEDs out there with built-in resistors. I used to know the name of one specific manufacturer that comes to mind...but I forget

Re: Which Micro Controller to Choose?
I started with PICs from Microchip when I was an 8th grader...easy to learn the assembler environment (MicroASM), plus you can download the free IDE MPLAB from the microchip website.
*pssssst* *psssssst* order a couple 16F84 samples and a 16F877 sample ;) *pssssst*
Plus, PICs are so popular that...

Re: Optocouplers @ Audio Freqs ?
Well...I'm no genius, but here are my ideas:
1) The thought of using a standard opto-isolator (or coupler) with an audio signal seems ideal. Flaw? The fact that an opto-isolator creates a digital 1 or 0. So, you can get your frequency correct, but not the amplitude of your audio signal.
Of cours...

Re: volume control
Hmm....like I've said, I'm no genius, or even an EE....but i'll throw my idea out there.
555 timer gives clocks to a 4040 which has a logic chain to control the digital pot...that way each clock of the 555 would be progressivly louder.....you can use a couple op-amps to buffer an RCA input and RCA...

if you're so worried, they make aircraft radios on CB frequency
Oh yah, I'm sure anything you build, or I build, will go over with the FCC real well
You could get the experimental radio license that I talked about....$50.
[ June 26, 2003: Message edited by: chessman ]

I've never seen E-matches. I wish I had some though!
For my fireworks display, I wrote a simple program on my PC in Basic (heh, I said simple ). Anyway, I had to press a button to ignite and then type a numerical pass-code.
It outputted over the parallel port to a little box, the box had manual ...

Re: SIMM/DIMM memories
There is a project a while ago that I found...for a PIC processor, uses a SIMM for a media player!! It's just an example project, but all the code is there. Unfortunately, I lost everything when my laptop crashed, so I can't give you a link :(
But now you know it exists on the internet, so just k...
