Re: Is this forum dying?
Sites like this seem to peak during certain times of the year, pretty much true of just about all forums. I have two electronic forums I frequent and lately work has me busier than ever before. My forum time less the weekends has really dropped. Just like the peaks there are valleys and this time of...

Originally that is how I read it also? Beats the heck out of me? I commented on that but he never mentioned it again so I am clueless.gerty wrote:I thought he was referring to changing polarity of an AC welder

Re: ac Arc welding hazards
Why would you want to "interchange" welder outputs? He is getting at the fact that his earlier picture shows a machine that uses multiple taps on the transformer to afford different weld currents, however, the newer machine is more limited (restricted) as to available outputs. This is com...

Re: Sticky web pages...
This usually happens in paypal payment pages if I want to go back. I think it is done intentionally on some sites. I wonder what code they use to do that? Do they do it using javascript? I would love to have that feature on some of my webpages even though as a browser I hate when that happens to me...

Re: ac Arc welding hazards
I know, for ac arc welding ground terminal of transformer should connect to work piece and electrode should be with positive terminal. For the initial arc formation there should be direct contact between both positive and negative terminals. My doubt is that, why this will not create any short circ...

Re: SD card eraser or cleaner?
can't you just select all and delete ?? or am i missing something ? Deleting a file just removes the file name, the actual file and data remain on the media. With the file name removed (stripped) from the file the file space can be written over, overwriting the old data. This can cause problems if ...

Re: Part identification
If I had to guess I would guess that maybe it is a PTC (Positive-temperature-coefficient) device for the front panel USB ports. More info here. That being only a guess. One option would be to use an externally powered USB hub connected to the failed USB ports as a workaround for the time being if yo...

Re: Replaced a virus filled HD with a new one
Maybe I am missing something here but if you have moved all the contents of a Windows XP Home disk to a USB thumb drive and are trying to now boot from and install from that drive it won't work as there is more to doing the install from the USB drive. There are additional files needed to get it to w...

Re: can't see pictures
You don't mention what email client you are using. Email client being what program you view your email in such as Outlook, Outlook Express or a host of others? Most email client software has the option of selecting Tools / Options / Security with options for blocking images. Without knowing exactly ...

Re: changing icons in XP
Hi Ya MrAl I know Photoshop can be used but as to free I used Infranview I believe. I used an old copy of JASC Paint Shop Pro to create the icon images then saved as a bitmap file. Then opened the .bmp in Infranview and saved as an .ico file. I think I would start with a 91 by 91 pixel canvas and th...

Re: changing icons in XP
Hi Ya dacflyer. Years ago I went through my icon phase changing icons for whatever reasons. The first trick in changing an icon is finding out where the icon originates from. Some are easy to change by making your own little image with an .ico extension or just replacing them in their location with ...

Re: motherboard
In the case of a single card it doesn't matter. You only need to worry about it if you plan to install a pair of cards and configure in SLI or CrossFire. However, if you plan to just install a single card it matters not.
