Re: transformer question - how to calculate?
Turns ratio = Np/Ns
Where Np = number of turns in primary and Ns = number of turns in secondary.
Voltage ratio Vp/Vs = Np/Ns
wher Vp is voltage on the primary and Vs is voltage on the secondary.

Re: Bad Bulbs?
Another alternative, if you have access to do it, wire all three bulbs in series. That'll give you the dim light, and lower the voltage to the bulbs.

Re: Ceiling Fan wiring
Wouldn't the easiest thing be adding a wall mounted variable speed control and leave the the fan itself on high speed.

[quote] In Oklahoma, they've phased out all the electronics programs in the vo-tech schools and it's nearly the same in Missouri is nearly the same. State-supported vocational electronics programs are rare. Haven't seen electronics coorespondence courses in a long time. Only a few private schools st...

I can't picture what that yellow splatter you mentioned looks like. Since it's with all 3 browsers, have you checked mouse settings, for "pointer"

Re: UL listing...dubious assurance
I bought an extension cord at a tool sale held at our civic center from one of those traveling vendors. It was marked 16/3 and was 50' long. About a year later I heard about them in the news being sued by several customers. Seems they purchased the same cords and, during proper usage, the cords had ...

Re: Fluorescent Lighting
The way I understand it, the back panel, the one that covers the ballast, must be grounded. Maybe an issue of the paint not allowing that. The reason for that panel needing a ground is it helps the gasses ionize in the tube, much like the band around one of those U shaped strobe light tubes. http://...

Re: Ni Cad battery packs to Ni-MH
I had them rebuild an old 12v cordless drill battery.
http://www.primecell.com/nimhconv.htm
The conversion went from ni-cad to ni-mh. I used the drill (Makita) for roughly 3 more years, untill it committed suicide by jumping off a 6' stepladder. I used the original ni-cad charger.
