Bigglez, Working with standard consumer grade mics here, some newer, some older, dynamics use either 1/4" or 1/8" mono phone plugs, no XLR's. The condenser mic is the boom off of a computer headset (electret). All are for use with the soundcard inputs on a repurposed Win98 machine, good en...

Post your results (and PIX if possible)! Single channel works quite well, enabling the available dynamic mic to be used through the line input of the music computer. While the condenser mic worked well enough for the first few recordings, the ease of use just wasn't there, and it picked up too much...

Gotcha. I wasn't sure what they were. I should have deduced from the
numbers on the lines that that is what they were for. You learn something
new every day.

Thanks,

Bigglez,

What is the component that is missing between C6 and voltage divider
R1/R2 in the battery section? Possibly a 0.1 or 0.01 uF bypass cap? It
looks like the label for C6 obscured the symbol/label.

Just curious.

...I though we might have been following the work of American Rube Goldberg... Why thank you. It is a compliment to be noted for thinking outside the box. Rube was actually quite the genius to think of all the different ways to accomplish such mundane tasks. For those that don't know who James Burk...

Bigglez, Thanks for the observations, but my post and links were meant as sort of a James Burke type of thing; to show how something unrelated led me through twists and turns to come to a bit of information unrelated to the first circumstance. ie: need a microphone preamp<- search web for schematics...

brodave38, This thread comes at a serendipitous time. My son is in need of a mic preamp for his burgeoning recording hobby and I found this schematic. Unsure of what a mic would output, I threw the mic section into CircuitMaker and used 50 mV for the input. I found that if you changed C1 to 0.01 uF ...

I have a Line In connection set up on 2 stereos for just such purposes (computer headphone and mp3 player headphone), and they drive the Line Input just fine. I can switch from Line In to either Radio or CD with no apparent drop in audio level. I use the volume control on either the computer or mp3 ...

Only showing it was a TIP, not a 2N. (Yes, still bipolar.) Design as you wish. Actually, as the OP prefers.

Reference TIP3055, if this helps the "design team".

Last time I looked at my local Sears Hardware store, they had mechanical
as well as electronic doorbell chimes. You could get a mechanical
replacement there and add it into your existing setup.

You could always put the SIT tones (do da dee) at the beginning of your answering machine message, that way the automated telemarketers would register the number as not in use and remove it from their list. As long as you leave regular message after that, the important people you need to contact you...

MrAl, Do you have a Dollar Tree or some other type of Dollar Store near you? The local Dollar Tree has a generic 2 button corded mouse that would work well as a slider donor. For a buck, it would be worth a shot. Of course, with the way that store moves product, it wouldn't surprise me to find them ...

Bigglez, I've just checked out the situation with the on-line edition in .PDF format. The reason you cannot select the text is because the image on screen is just that - an image. You can right-click and select Save Picture As to save the whole page, thereby skipping a few steps (fom the screen capt...
