Re: 18 Led's powered by 12vdc

CeaSaR, When using LED's in series strings, I always put a diode (parallel-back to back) with each LED. If a LED opens up, the current flows through the diode, allowing the others in the series string to operate. The other advantage is it seems to provide some ESD protection for the static sensitive...

Re: Making hydrogen from water & DC

Okay Slingshot... I'll byte!!!
When and where does this demo take place? Do I get to keep the leftover "GEL"? Will Randy, Paula, and Simon be there to offer their opinions?
Where will you store your "megs of electricity"?

Re: Fixing magnetic damage to PC monitor

Hi Mike, I was never a TV repairman, but in the old days when the TV repairman made housecalls, they used a strong electromagnet to degauss the tube. Check out degauss in your favorite search engine, and I'm sure you'll find all the info you need. The newer monitors have this feature built in, but i...

Re: What does everyone do?

Hi All, I'm no expert in the glass cockpit field. We stick to the more basic instruments that you are used to. We do some discrete instruments with various types of LCD's, but not the whole avionics packages. I'm with you guys. I like separate packages - just in case one thing goes down, it doesn't ...

Boy, That's a whole 'nother thread! Not to worry. She's an old, old friend, and no one around as a witnesss! Totally harmless! But I appreciate the concern/advice! Really. That subject comes up a lot at work now-a-days. The women, for the most part, admit to being worse than the men. Thanks, Dave

Re: What does everyone do?

This has been interesting, getting to know you people better! I am blessed to have been working at the same job for 19 years now. I am an Engineering Technician for a small (100 employee) Aircraft Instrument Sales and Service company. With just a high school education, and a little trade school... I...

I can't resist.....
A pastor, a lawyer, a doctor and an engineer were waiting one morning for a particularly slow group of golfers.
Engineer: What's with these guys? We must have been waiting for 15 minutes!
Doctor: I don't know, but I've never seen such ineptitude!
Pastor: Hey, here come...

Re: Drill Bits

I get my mini end-mill and drill bits from a local distributor in Wichita, KS - Mires Tool Co. 316-264-1914. They are made by IMCO Carbide Tooling in Ohio, but IMCO's website doesn't have a distributor's list that I could find. Hope this helps,

Re: Where do you get your parts?

My two primaries are DigiKey and Newark-In-One. Newark offers "Delivered to you in 2 days or less or we pay the freight" on in-stock items. I've had the same cust. service rep for years, and she is a sweetheart and bends over backwards to help me on my small prototype qty. orders. I've als...

Re: SO8

I agree Phil, We just buy the alloy direct from mfg. The kit is nice and all, but I have flux and solder wick coming out my ears. It is still kind of expensive, but I even (Shhh, don't tell) re-use the stuff a couple of times after scraping it off of the bench - when I'm able to do the old heat and ...
