Re: I want or should I say I need a Moon rover wheelchair.
Some people are trying to convert go-karts to electric but the size and wieght of the motor and batteries is probably an issue. But if your not racing the go-kart then I could see putting a big comfortable seat on it and a bigger motor/batteries and then gearing it down so it has power at low speeds...

Re: low power battery backup
They are pretty common in theory like if you unplug your computer the battery takes over. Battery back-up for the phone was not too popular until recently because of the ripple caused by using the phone from the output of the charger. I don't know if you can find one commercially because of the dive...

Re: Moisture vs Resistance
Water could be an insulator if it is high in oil content and the other way if it is highly acidic. If you want to check the quality of work they did it might mean testing the place for heat, resistance, and humidity. If it is hot and low in resistance without being humid then it could be contaminate...

Re: Happy Thanksgiving
I went fishing for a few hours thanksgiving day. It was quiet and peace-full on the pier with hardly any one there. I had some good ham to use for bait and when it looked like I wasn't going to catch anything I dropped the float and let the bait go the crabs. I hauled in a crab that was caught in my...

Re: Battery Testing Plan
Like as Mr. Al said you could get them charged up in 15 minutes but I dont think it works for ni-cads. The idea was to charge the batteries up without much damage or heat so the chargers used to have cooling fans. So if you charge up batteries slowly like Rodney said then you might heat them up for ...

Re: I need a formula to prove a point
"The relationship between Voltage, Current and Resistance in any DC electrical circuit was firstly discovered by the German physicist Georg Ohm, (1787 - 1854). Georg Ohm found that, at a constant temperature, the electrical current flowing through a fixed linear resistance is directly proportio...

Google instant
The article in the news about Googles instant now reminded me of the Brewster Rocket comic in the news a while back. To quote from the article "The achievement wasn't lost on Google co-founder Sergey Brin, who jokingly told reporters that the company's lightning-quick computers are morphing int...

Here is the new and latest thing in competitions - cease and desist orders!! "Manufacturer Wicked Lasers scored some early press for likening its device — said to be 1,000 times more powerful than laser pointers deployed by academics/speakers/your average troublemaking dumb-ass — to one of the ...

Re: opnions wanted on battery reviving of NiCads
I like thinking in terms like positive and negative instead of the more popular proton collector and proton emitter/donor when trying to figure out if the battery is good or not. If a battery doesn't charge up then it has too much base/proton collector or negative that might be interpreted as resist...

Re: opnions wanted on battery reviving of NiCads
I googled myself to see what they had on me and found one of the first listed was my email I sent to Nuts and volts on the question 9095. I don't know how long it was on there because I hardly use google. I edited the page by taking my email off of it but that was not enough so I changed the name. T...

Re: Laser beam
Without changing the circuit you could just put a battery in it that is already hot and the news says that those sodium batteries create a lot of heat. So that sounds simple enough but the circuit has to be built to handle the high heat or you could try cooling it. I don't think you would cool the c...

Re: Town flood, power outage, backup power ideas?
I noticed somewhere in a magazine an article on sodium batteries that stated they could be used for power outages for cities so probably no good for small uses because of the high heat they generate. Going by your title I thought you meant you needed power for your city so I did a quick search and f...

Re: opnions wanted on battery reviving of NiCads
I know this is an old post but the topic on class d amp in n & v got me thinking and so I tried something and it worked for ni-cads, both for charging them and reviving them, and I suppose it would work for ni-mh ones too but I haven't tried that yet. I thought I would use it for an answer for t...

Re: guidance for "alert" circuit
What I would use, if the distance is 2 hours walking, is a couple of frs/gmrs radios. They have a call function and can be carried around in your pocket. And don't forget the batteries.
