Re: Help find Microwave Oven Wheels

The problem we had was the wheels wearing thru the paint below the dish..Had that problem on two different ovens , threw away the wheel caddy on both , wheels were good shape.. We have a place called APS...appliance/parts/service that usually has access to any oem part..<p>[ March 15, 2005: Message ...

Re: Two Transformers

If the voltage didn't drop on the primary it would indicate a sufficent supply . How about the voltage on the secondary, before the bridge, if that didn't drop low I would suspect a bad bridge. What are you using for a bridge, is it rated high enough, is it getting warm/hot ,it shouldn't.. Don't ove...

Re: Two Transformers

Have you checked the primary voltage ?
It's not fed by 300' of 16 ga extension cord is it? Also, have you checked the voltage on the secondary before the bridge ? I agree with you, 4a over for 5 secs shouldn't cause such a drop...

Re: Desoldering

One thing that's always close by my bench is a solder sucker. I've tried the old Radio Shack one with a heating element and a squeeze bulb and didn't like it at all, didn't have the neccessary suction. The one I use now is a Soldapault(?)it's like Enzo says, cock it and press the button. Sometimes y...

Re: LED Load Equalizer

Looking at Superbrightleds load resistor kit they reccomend a 6 ohm 50 watt resistor. Since it's wired in parallel it shouldn't cause you turn signals to be dimmer. The wiring for the turn signals is sized for an incandescant bulb, and since this resistor simulates one there is no reason for the leds ...

Re: whitfield pellet stove

Wayne, if I'm not missing something all you need is some kind of thermostat to turn the fan on? Wouldn't it be easier to use something like a Thermodisc for this. This way it would be totally independant of the orignal circuit board. Sounds like even if you did find a replacement part, it wouldn't l...

Re: Delco Truck Radio

I had a '89 Chevy pickup that had the same clock problem. The 'RCL' button was stuck, it allows you to check time with ignition off. But like the other posters I don't think that'll run down your battery, didn't mine anyways.A common problem is the tilt switch for the underhood light getting out of ...

Re: atx power supply for hobby electronics

terri.. you're right..I worded my reply poorly. Without the load resistor the supply won't work properly and the ouputs will fluctuate (osc?).The load resistor stops that, not regulates it..

Re: Convert battery-powered unit...

First you need to see where the problem is, bad battery, low output on charger, dust bunnies strangling motor.... Have you taken it apart yet? look around in there it may be something simple. If you go with the corded option all you need to know is voltage, amperage, polarity. It's a simple conversion...

Re: atx power supply for hobby electronics

Here's something I ran across.. http://www.nfdc.net/home/cbdb/12%20V%20Power%20Supply.htm I just did two of them, I simplified it by putting a 10 ohm 10 watt resistor across the 5 volt output. There was an adjustment pot on one of them for the 12 volt out and I was able to get it up to 13.9 before t...

Re: Drilling PC Board

Here's what works for me. Carbide bit, high speed (don't know the rpm).A block of wood under board for support ,most bits break when going thru the board. And easy on the drill press handle, you gain a lot of leverage that you really don't need for drilling a circuit board. The bit must be sharp, I ...

Another thing that goes a long way, at least here at United Technologies, is continuing education. Electronics is a ever evolving job and those that keep up with it get the promotions..
Don't quit learning just because you have the degree/job..
