I got my telemetry link connected and working. As soon as the weather clears I will do an outdoor flight test.
I started a little blog here showing my progress

Re: Kronos Flyer Series
There are two basic modes that flight controllers fall into. These are manual mode and stability mode. All the controllers support manual mode and work pretty much the same in this mode. I don’t recommend manual mode for a beginner unless you have a lot of experience with helicopters. The KK2’s manu...

Re: Kronos Flyer Series
Did the maiden flight. Only flew a few feet off the ground but I was able to hold it in the air in stablized mode (no Alt hold). It was a little wabbily, so here are my out of the box flight stability comparisons. Out of the box flight comparisons NAZA 9 out of 10 APM2 4 out of 10 KK2 1 out of 10 I ...

Re: Kronos Flyer Series
Ardupilot update I got the correct firmware on the ArduPilot board. I do get a verification error, but it appears to be working. The board is all configured and tested. The GPS upgrade is worth the extra money. It lock onto the satellites in my basement shop. I will follow up with a maiden test flig...

Re: Kronos Flyer Series
Started the install and configuration proccess of adding a ArduPilot (APM2) to the KRonosFlyer. One of the problems I had at first was finding the correct documentation. Once I did locate it, I started the installation and configuration. First observation: If you want something that is very easy to ...

Re: Kronos Flyer Series
There was an error on the site. All the items were in stock. I should get them before Xmas. The OSD is used to place GPS and battery info (Data from APM) overlaid on camera data. It can also be transmitted via the Telemetry link but you don’t need the OSD for that. Its the data that’s used to fly th...

Re: Kronos Flyer Series
As far as the transmitter goes, if you truly are leaning towards robotics, then a 9 channel propably wont do. The 8FG can transmit to two recievers. For a total of 14 channels. The extra channels come in handy when you want to do some addvanced features like camera control. That said the 9X is only ...

Re: Kronos Flyer Series
I just ordered one of the new Adrupilots with GPS. I also ordered the two-way telemetry and OSD module. Better be good because it cost me almost as much as I spent on the NAZA and GPS. I probably won’t get it working in time for this series of articles, so if there is enough interest, I may do a fol...

Re: Kronos Flyer Series
I have not had a chance to try one of these. Just watch out as there are some open source clones. The one you want is on the DIY Drones web site. This one was just released and looks like it might be worth checking out. Im going to do some research on these for my book so will be purchasing one in t...

The links on my web site has affiliate codes. Supposedly I get credit when the links are followed and items purchased. However it has become quite evident that this rarely happens. In any case, you can share your codes with your friends, but it would be inappropriate to start posting such links and ...

Re: Kronos Flyer Series
The Turnigy motors come with hardware. The hardware includes a prop nut but no spinner. The NTM motors don't come with hardware. You have to purchase a hardware pack. The hardware pack comes with spinners, but no nut. The Tiger motors come with hardware, and includes both a nut, and a spinner. You d...

New Tiger Motors
Ok folks, I got some new tiger motors on the way. They are 2208 1100kv and should mate up to the Kronos Flyer very well. These are expensive motors and are priced at $41 each. But are top of the line motors. Once I get a set installed on the Kronos Flyer I will post the results, and if successful li...
