Re: Alternating light dimmer
Hi,
I agree with Philba... using an under-a-dollar microcontroller is the easiest & cheapest way to go plus you can change the behavior of the device without pluging in a soldering iron. Additionally if you want this light controller to then "talk" to something else, you can do so fo...

Re: IR Sensor board problem
NE5U... your schematic re-do is much better. I have been using Eagle for a couple years now and like it more all the time. I grew up on Orcad, & Tango, and PADS to name a few but once you get the hang of Eagle, it's very nice.
Curious why you don't use "nets" instead of wire? You sho...

Re: IR Sensor board problem
Hi,
Sorry if I came off as negative. But a schematic should be like any other document that displays information. If the content (or punctuation) is arbitrary then information gets lost. I did the same in Eagle using their included library only and came up with this. Of course I was guesing at wha...

Re: Handy Solution to breadboarding SOIC's
This is not really new. Logical Devices (or maybe Logical Systems), Aries, and numerous other companies have been making these for years for industrial programmers, processor emulators, etc. Expensive but a must have for programming OTP and flash microcontrollers that are not in-ciruit programmable.

Re: IR Sensor board problem
Hi,
Did this simple schematic actually come with something you bought? It is UGLY! There are several things wrong by the looks of it also... like the pot being used open ended and what's with the funky ground symbols (and pot symbol too). Was this created in Europe?

Re: What does everyone do?
Hi,
I have been a project engineer for a largish American company for 12 years and involved in the electronics & software industry for close to 30.
I had one of the first Trash-80's and probably have owned every type of PC at one time or another. TRS-80's, CoCo's, Sinclairs, Commodores from ...

Re: fake keyboard
Hi,
You may want to check B&B Electronics (www.bb-elec.com). They at one time sold a keyboard replacement device that responds to the PC with the appropriate commands. There are numerous documents around that explain the AT-style (and XT style) keyboard communications protocol which is easy to...

Re: low cost PC-based digital storage oscilloscopes
Hi,
The PC scopes can be very good and a fraction of the price of a benchtop (plus if you have a laptop it is portable. There are things you can do with a PC based scope that you cannot do easily with even a $2000 storage scope... like capture very long one-time events, or capture data directly to...

Re: Bitscope *alert*
Hi,
In all fairness to Bitscope, after having the device for a few weeks and getting them to actually tell me that their DSO software versions 1.0 and 1.1 would not work with my BS-50 Pocket Analyse, I have changed my opinion of the device.
I am using their DSO beta 1.2 software and after gettin...

Bitscope *alert*
Hi,
I would be interested if anyone else got stung by Bitscope. I just purchased their BS-50 Pocket Analyser and got it after waiting close to 4 weeks (Australia snail mail). The scope came without a scope probe (who would do that??) but did come with CD, and some mini clips.
The device will not...
