Re: If you don't hear back from me on Wednesday...

The patch for this came out in October. Yet it appears many didn't respond back when it came out. My boss has had an unpatched machine on the dirty side of the Internet for a week now and while he's seen probes from other worms so far no Conficker infections. It will be interesting to see what happe...

Need Free Key Logger without Viruses

I want to install a key logger on my laptop. Something that will record all key strokes, Windows activity, current IP, etc. and e-mail logs to a location of my choice. Something that runs silently. Something (if possible) free. All the free ones and even the try before you buy appear to have trojans...

Re: common lcd tv service problems

Backlights going out is what I see on VGA computer LCDs. This could be the tube itself or the inverter board.

Re:

Maybe the internet would have saved this guys a**. Doubtful. The outside board on these "Call Center" places likely contain a two way radio same as always. They use business band frequencies. Likely the outside board would still be connected to a computer with VoIP to relay the sig...

This was briefly featured on an episode of "Modern Marvels" concerning fast food tech and all that goes into it. The owner of a number of franchise restaurants setup a "call center" to handle the order taking for the drive through windows of all of them. (One order taker could be...

Finding parts can be challenging. But thanks to the Internet and especially eBay this is MUCH easier now. My parents central AC condenser went out. I diagnosed it as a bad capacitor over the phone by listening to what it was doing. So I go out and sure enough the cap is swollen and about to burst. T...

Are 16mm and 35mm prints even in TV stations anymore? I would have thought all of this would have been transcribed to tape or some digital format by now. Not even my old high school uses projectors anymore. And some of the films I watched were 30 and more years ago when I was in school! They have sw...

Is it a BUZZ sound that fluctuates with scene brightness and possibly which camera is in use? I know on old black and white and some tube color TVs (if I recall correctly) there was a control for BUZZ. I do not hear this noise from any NEW set I have. But a friend claimed he had a serious issue with...

When I first started out, there was nothing that could match the feeling of peering into the backside of a large dimlit cabinet. The soft glow of tubes and occasional clicking of relays was pure magic and I was in awe! Ahh the magic of tubes..... In an old electronics magazine I remember seeing a c...

For the best deal I was going to suggest the SAW recorder from All Electronics Vern Graner linked to. Some store SOMEWHERE in Canada must carry keychain memo recorders! These are available in drug stores (are there Walgreens, Rite Aid, or CVS in Canada or their equivalent?), big box department store...

I probably should not give away my "secrets" but what the heck. PLEASE! DO NOT SHARE ANY OF THESE "Secret" techniques with anyone! It could mean the end of privacy as we know it! While these techniques MAY be legal, The Elders of the Internet will likely come after me for reveali...

I have to agree with MrAl on the three rules. On the computers I've dealt with the SATA controller had a different driver than the SATA RAID controller even though both plugged in to the same spot. To go from SATA drive to SATA RAID required hitting F6 then installing the RAID driver when installing...

Echostar 7 is co-located at 119.0 degrees with Anik F3 (118.8 degrees) and DirecTV 7S (119.0). These are DishNetwork and DirecTV satellites. Are cable TV outlets using these feeds for their head end?

Or am I missing something here?
