Re: What is this called?
Looks to me like a J-K flop with the J and K inputs both connected to the input signal.
Ignoring the clock input (which doesn't count in the truth table), the result would be:
Input Result ..0...Q(n+1) = Q(n) ..1...Q(n+1) = not Q(n)
Does anybody use flops anymore? The only place I run across t...

Re: 8085 IDE
I spent YEARS working with the 8080, 8085 and Z80 and I like the 8085 the best. Easy interface, clean timing, simple instruction set (I never have used many of the Z80 extras) - just a sweet device.
Now, I don't know about IDEs. I have always used a simple monitor program in EPROM while bringing u...

Re: I need your help, any advice will be appriciated
I use ExpressPCB and I like their order process. Two things I would like to see: more device templates in the software and lower prices for more complex boards such as those with multiple layers and solder masks.
I would certainly consider your service if it was as easy to use as ExpressPCB and if...

Re: Servo controller "two switches"
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of ways to do this.
The average servo requires a pulse varying from about 1.0 mS to 2.0 mS repeating every 20 mS. 1.0 mS represents full motion in one direction, 2.0 mS represents full motion in the other direction and 1.5 mS represents a center position.
No...

Re: Hex Heverter Relay activation
I would use a one-shot like a 74LS121 and then run the output through the transistor that drives the relay.

Re: Add DC bias to sinusoidal signal
I don't have much to add to the technical bits above but...
TI has a book "Op Amps For Everyone" that can be downloaded from their site. Chapter 4 deals with the issues of offset and scaling.
It is possible to take a signal like -3 to -3.5 and offset it and rescale to 0..5 with a singl...

Re: Sound Power
One thing to consider is that even though you can't hear ultrasonic, it does impact your hearing. dB limits and exposure times are still relevant.
In the beginning, there were ultrasonic motion detectors to control office lighting. Guess what? You couldn't use them in an office environment because...

Re: Zapped oscilloscope
Yes, the neutral is bonded to ground in the service panel and also at the utility transformer. However, when you run through the isolation transformer, the two output wires are now ungrounded. There isn't any such thing as line and neutral, there is just 'line1' and 'line2' or whatever.
But, keepi...

Re: Zapped oscilloscope
I have always been curious about isolation transformers. It would seem to me that if one is required it is because the scope probe ground lead needs to be above 0V to ground. With the isolation transformer this is certainly possible but wouldn't it also leave the scope case above ground?
Given the...

Re: National Debt
First, like a mortgage, the national debt implies that what we have doesn't belong to us. It belongs to foreign countries that hold our bonds and cash. A very bad thing as they can easily control the value of our dollar - all they have to do is start selling dollars and our international businesses ...
