Re: Need Ideas for College Project

How about a sheet of thin aluminum foil stretched over a woofer cone, and allow the lights to bounce off of it onto a mirror, while you play different styles of tunes? Depending on where you locate the light(s) you will get a variety of effects.

Re: Small Fan with Flap?

How about the air regulator flapper in your cars' intake pipe? A very light spring would keep it closed when the fan is off.
So, is this a smoker, or a BBQ? Got a webpage?

Hack a Dish

Anybody have any info or links on satellite TV dish antennas, and their associated preamps? I'm curious as to frequency range, preamp gain, etc.

Re: Long Interval Clock and/or Timer Needed

If you want still another idea, use a photocell/phototransistor to count day/night cycles. Alarm sounds when the preset number of days equals the day cycle count.

Tim: Is there access to outside air at all? Can you run a duct, or place a small box (suitcase size) near a door or other opening? Also, how big an area is the cabin?

Re: Mini Air Conditioner

Is there a window nearby on the floor above you? Maybe a window unit up there, and creativly duct its cold air outlet down to your hot basement? Cold air, being denser, will drop anyway. Maybe just a floor grate above you to an air conditioned room?

Re: Kite Camera Shutter Trigger

Jolly! We posted at the same moment!
I like your idea of using a wireless video camera!
What range are they good for? 100 ft? Maybe a scrounged TV satellite dish (2 GHz) would provide enough receiver gain to get way more range! Ideas?

Re: Kite Camera Shutter Trigger

The $19 Wally World Wonder comes with software on a CD, USB cable, and even two AAA batteries! Download pics on your laptop in the field! Only prob I see with this camera is it shuts power off after 30 seconds of no activity. So, you'd have to push the power button, then the shutter button, within 2...

Walmart- $19.95 for a digital Vivitar 3350. 640X480, 26 shots hi-res, or 104 lo-res. Even has a "continuous capture" mode- 6 shots/sec video.

Re: DC to AC with a twist...

Crazy? Dunno, but what about 6 12 volt to 120 VAC inverters? Tie their inputs in series across 74 DC, and parallel all their outputs of 120 VAC.
Don't know if they would "buck" each other, or aid.

A manufacturer and part number of the "led tubes" would be helpful. What was your source of these tubes?
