I would use switch statements, too. You would obviously have to use some sort of decision making statements and a switch statement fits best in this case. That is, unless you are using a language that doesn't support anything like that. I don't think basic does??? He mentioned about break statements...

Did the MOSFET replace something unique or just a type of tube?

Excuse my ignorance, I have never used a tube (and I hope I never do).

Thanks,
Kevin

No, actually, I got side tracked and never got back to it. I should have read the whole thing before putting my foot, er ... saying anything.

But, thanks, though!

Thyratron

Like I always do when I am ________ (bored, curious, etc... Fill in the blank), I was nosing around wikipedia and ran across this gizmo. Never heard of one before. If, as I understand it, the transistor replaced the vacuum tube, that would mean that a MOSFET is a solid state Thyratron??? You can rea...

You got me. I didn't know what, exactly, a HiPot test (or tester) was. I looked it up on wikipedia like I do for everything and it all makes sense now

Yeah, but if he could use the drive (i.e. copy files to C:), it would have to be partitioned already. Maybe it wants a non FAT32 file system (NTFS?). Or, it might want a FAT32 if it has an NTFS... Been a long time since I messed with linux.

I wasn't thinking of keeping out moisture in the glue box. But, I would think that you could make some cool effects. You could use different colored sticks and make letters and embed the letters into the clear glue. I would think that the letters would have to be high temp and the clear would need t...

I would use aluminum foil. I know that won't melt with the glue gun I have. And, if you look at it, there is a shiny side and a dull side. The shiny side is very smooth. (for molding different things). I had a thought... Instead of a project box, encase the whole circuit board of a project in a &quo...

The only thing like that that I have done is embed a DS1820 One-Wire Temp Sensor in it. I had an old prescription pill bottle filled with glue and just the wires coming out. This worked well for use outdoors.

A funny thing happened tonight... I turned on the TV and low-n-behold - it does have a problem. Looses signal for some reason. The signal comes in and out. I am sure I will have questions... So, I tried to go on ebay to see if that service manual was still available. It sold for $1.95 (if I remember...

Thanks for all of the replies! Last night I epoxied it with the putty form of epoxy. Not the $20 stuff that you see on TV. Although I know that stuff works because one of the local TV stations has an "As Seen On TV" segment - usually on mondays. They did that test where they glued two plat...

It's not all the way off. It does wiggle, though. Electrically it is still connected. I think I will solder it although I am not sure what kind of metal it is.

Thanks!

Simple TV question

At least for someone who knows alot about them. On a TV, there is a connector that the ant. coax plugs into. Inside, that connector, in this case anyway, is part of a metal box which has numerous coils in it. The connector must have been bumped at some point because there is a crack where it meets t...

TV User's Manual

I have a Magnavox HD1541 rear projection TV with chassis number PTV410-AH01. I have looked for any info at all on the net and I found the service manual on ebay but the set works fine so I don't really need it. I would like to have the plain old user's manual that would have came with it, though. I ...
