Re: EARPHONES

This is getting a lot of information. And I do thank all of you for the effort.
I am now thinking of a crystal radio set. All from a posting of the XTAL society web site. And searching google I found a formual for figuring or estimating how to wind a coil for a specified mh. But I have a couple of...

Re: EARPHONES

Hi Ron, I just came from google and a search under crystal earphones. And I was gong to post google as a source of information if one looked under crystal earphones. This is getting to be a topic of Earphones 101. Like in a college course. The more I look the more I find. And oh yes plenty of materi...

Re: chip resistor?

Just what is a chip resistor? I have some resistors that were originally used on disk drives as terminator resistors. They are dual in line chips, and I think there were 8 resistors in each (16 pins - 8 on each side.) I believe that the resistance is 300 ohms or thereabouts. I have no use for them a...

Re: EARPHONES

I got involved with this study of electronics more seriously when I bought a Radio Shack 30 in 1 (manual dated 1972) at a garage sale for the big sum of 50 cents. It was till in the original box but missing the hook up wires and the earphone or earplug. The wires I improvised and I had earplugs from...

Re: Countdown clock

Hi Nitro,
Those last hours, days, weeks and months at work seemed to drag. O even had a button that I sarted to wear when it got down to less than a half year. Come on December 22. And that was in 1987. And there is life after retirement if you have several hobbies. Greybie

The BUGBOOK I & II.

The books were printed in the mid 1970's and covered the 7400 series ICs. I had book II and by going on the Web last week I found a used book I. But the reason for finding the book was not answered. Both books refer to a series of modules called L R OUTBOARDS. That are plugged into a solderless brea...

Re: unknown part

I am not an electronics guru, I barely am able to spell electronics if you gt the picture. BUT from my understanding of MOV's it isn't necessary to be in the circuit for the circuit to operate. So if it doesn't work with it out of the circuit there is much more damage than just that blown component....

Re: P-Box Kits from Radio Shack

Jolly Roger, Thanks for posting the question. It gives this old timer another source of information about electronics.
I never saw those kits but I do remember that Radio Shack had circuit boards with the instructions to build various things that were often quite complex. At that time I had neithe...

EARPHONES

I have recently gotten involved in experimenting in electronics and I have discovered that there are three varieties of earphones. You know those gadgets that plug into one ear. Way back when I was young everybody was using headphones with an impedience (right word?) of about 10,000 ohms. Of course ...

Re: Transformer

Thank you Dean Hustler. That confirms my suspicion that was the case. I just didn't want to sacrifice a transformer to find out. I will admit that I am not a young person and that my electronic knowledge is mostly from a course in radio repair taken back in 1943-1944 from NRI. I have tried to keep u...

Transformer

Transformer. On a center taped secondary winding are the two windings connected as series bucking or series adding. In other words if the two ends are connected together would you get if for instance a 12.6 ct secondary winding 6.3 volts at twice the amperage? I don't know where to look for the answ...
