Not feasible to just add another monitor? Not really, I don't have another monitor, money or space on my desk. and a push-button KVM switch wouldn't do? Like Belkin and others make? I could use switches and that would be the easiest method but I don't have any on hand that would be able to do it wi...

Thanks Chris but I was hoping to use parts I already have. If I have to buy a part I might as well just buy a mechanical switchbox. I might just buy one anyway, they are under $4 on ebay. I wanted to make an electronic version because it gives me the flexibilty to make the switching automated, depen...

Electronic VGA switchbox

I have two computers that share a monitor and I am tired of switching the cable. Can I make an electronic switchbox? I know a mechanical version would be the easiest but I don't have the proper switch and so I'd like to try an electronic version. Would a couple of 4066's do the trick or are the sign...

I meant in general but I hear you. I was also comparing this forum to others I have been to. One forum I visit has over 700 members signed in and has over 3000 guests. At all times.

Sadly that seems acurate for most online forums. One problem here though, not enough traffic to get the numbers listed. Where will this post fit in?

Something tells me the footage does exist. I think it's floating around with people claiming it as NASA hidden footage of alien ships. I remember hearing about all of this awhile ago. Have you yahoogled it?

Did you try putting the .h files in the compilers include folder? it would be either C:\your software\include or C:\program files\yoursoftware\include something like that. I always have to put include files from other programs into those folders.

I think you could make a profit having a store like radio shack used to be but better and up to date. You can carry standard 5% carbon resistors the most common FETs, transistors, caps, etc.... There are many micro controllers to choose from but most people prefer the same models. Carry PICs, AVR an...

Error free (or very close) optical tach output

I asked about this on another post but I don't know if I didn't get an answer because I piggybacked (the original poster had the same project but I asked for more specifics on a circuit) someone else's post or if no one had an answer. I want to build an optical tachometer and I need a circuit that w...

innie or outie?

When using a fan to remove heat from a heatsink is it better to blow on the heatsink or suck away from the heatsink? I'm specifically wondering about CPU cooling but would the answer stay the same for everything or does it depend on what the application is? For instance if you had a peltier device w...

Not to change the topic but I am in need of a tach and I was wondering if Mral and Chris could suggest a good way to get a clean signal. I have plenty of phototransistors and CDs cells, which would be better? Don't phototrans have a quicker response time? I bought several cheap red lasers and so tho...

What are the chances of me being able to build an inverter for around $20 or less? I have an extensive collection of transformers both large and small and I also have plenty of capacitors and other parts. Is this something that can be made from a very well stocked junk box?

The ones above appear to be using premade hooks that you can get from a hobby or sewing store. I would definitely make these out of ROHS compliant devices. Woman don't seem to like this sort of thing. I am always getting hassled by the women in my life: "If it makes noise forget about", &q...
