Not a defect it's working just as it should. Blinking lights get your attention better then still. If the brake lights blink you are more likely to notice them and slow down. I thought they were now illegal though because some people have seizures when looking at blinking lights.

To reduce torque and current in a permanent magnet motor, you need to remove some of the coils in the rotor Depending on how it is wound, you may be able to short some coils out or open sections. For example if the rotor has 6 windings, open 3 of them. This will not necessarily make it variable spe...

Well the other day I was bored and quite calm so I decided to look at the DVD player again just for something to do and as it turns out the DVD drive motor was the problem. I disassembled the entire drive and rebuilt it and now I have a working DVD player again. I'm trying to find a good replacement...

They released the digital issue on Jan 22, 2007. I normally get the print issue a week or two after the online issue comes out. I wouldn't worry they won't forget about us. I understand the anticipation factor but that left me some time ago. I don't look forward to the magazine like I used to. I don...

Re: cell phone antenna

I think I spotted the problem. their service provider is Cingular They may have the fewest dropped calls but it's kind of hard to drop a call if it can't get through in the first place. I'm not sure how your idea will work but I do know that a few months ago N&V answered a similar question in th...

Well I took it apart and checked everything I could think of. I looked for loose parts, touching parts, burnt parts, hot parts, etc.... I found nothing suspect. I opened up the drive within the player and inspected the lens and all associated parts with a jewelers loupe and found a few things that s...

I have had some luck with finding a landmark hole and measuring from there. Can't you find a wire that pokes through and measure from it? I see where you can't measure from the edge of the engine bay to a spot and then measure from the other side because the shape of the car but if you can find a ho...

Capacitance Multiplier

The recent (JAN) issue of NV has in the Q&A section schematic for a capacitance multiplier. I'm curious why or how this works. I realize that it uses the transistor and caps to see gaps and fill them. But how? Capacitors filter the supply and smooth out ripples by absorbing excess power and addi...

Line Level Audio To Walkie Talkie Interface

I need to input line level audio to a walkie talkie and I can't get it to work. The walkie talkie uses/used a high impedance speaker to act as speaker and microphone. One side of the speaker is always connected to + battery voltage. The radio is powered by a 9v battery. I tried connecting the line l...
