Re: Realistic specs

Nice. :) Only I wish you had better pic's of the front controls. Plus, more pic's of the Tape mech, and Phonograph. I hope you checked the Belt on the Tape player. {That is if your youngin has got a bunch Cassette Tapes she likes to listen too.} Belts will stretch, and start to slip as the rub...

Re: Realistic specs

Youngest (22 atm) likes lots of retro stuff, but does have mobile phone, Bluetooth (lotsa stuff!), but thought it was a "cute" little unit. Wants me to put an Aux input for computer / bluetooth / media player in there because it is small and wants to use it near the computer desk. Kids'll be kids. ...

Re: Realistic specs

Noise from the speaker on each channel on FM - had some blanking spots near appropriate stations Sounds like the Tuning Capacitor has gotten dust or dirt in it. Take some of the Contact Cleaner, or Isopropyl Alcohol and rinse it though the Tuning Capacitor. Turn the Tuning Knob back and forth while...

Re: Realistic specs

Yep, FF/Eject. I don't really expect much more than 3-5 watts. It only came with 1 of the speakers, and it is still in "Quarantine". Don't expect to get to it until maybe this weekend. Gotta get some cleaner for the pots. Hopefully the amp chip will be marked and I can get a datasheet for it. Eithe...

Re: Realistic specs

Hmmm................. This unit was one of the really low-end systems. Radio Shack must not of made or sold a lot of them. Because NOT even SAM's PhotoFacts covers it. Thus, what you got, could be considered a rare Item. I've worked on similar units, of different brand names. They had, maybe 5 - 10 ...

Re: Realistic specs

Hail CeaSar! Are you sure you have the right model in your post? I've looked up several of the Realistic Clarinette Series, and the early numbered units are only Kid's amplified record players. :???: If this has any of these features: 10 Watt Amplifier AM/FM Radio Cassette Tape Deck 8-Track Turntabl...

Re: WAT IZZ IT?

If I'm not mistaken...... It sounds like you have a Plasma Globe Kit, that has an audio input for making it respond to music. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/81pAU9l1fcL._AC_SX466_.jpg I've looked online for DIY kits. But I'm only seeing ones for 5" or larger Plasma Globes. ...

Re: Yet another battery charger question...lol

Hmmm............... Sealed Lead Acid type batteries, {SLA} are not as tolerant to over charging, or under charging as the Flooded Lead Acid type batteries{FLA}. Thus, you need a circuit that will stop the charge at the preset voltage level, and come back on when it drops to a set voltage level. Here...

Re: How Do you Clean A Deep Fryer?

UPDATE: I still haven't tried putting the Fry Tub, or Baskets into the Dishwasher. Because they have been cleaning up really easy with just a sponge, hot water, and some Dawn dish soap. But, I'm not liking the mechanical timer on this unit. It is very imprecise, especially when you need t...

Re: Ghosts

I don't believe in ghosts anymore! Black tape over the IR detector has stopped the random turn-on problem! As I recall, years ago when IR remotes were in their infancy, I recall a "kit" that used a high power IR emitter that was good for several hundred feet of range. Wondering if one of those is l...

Re: Ghosts

the last TV's I worked on that had a similar issues were the RCA CTC131 Series. they were notorious for having cold solder joints around the tuner housing. this would lead the tv to do all kinds of weird things. turning on or off randomly, changing channels, making the volume go up or down.. or mut...

Hi John. Seen a TV remote control emitting commands by itself caused by a nearby idle cell phone. Without any other actions, tape cover the TV infrared window; move the remote to another room with batteries removed just to confirm, and come back... :???: Very Interesting............ You could do th...

Re: My Toshiba is dying help...

Pop the drive out and hook it to another system with a drive adapter. The software application, or system, may be protected but the data files may be accessible. It's a do no harm attempt! Actually......... Using a "Live USB Stick" is a lot easier. :D Simply first go into the CMO Setup on the Lapto...
