Re: Need NEC Code

Robert I tried the link again just to make sure it posted properly and yes it does work just fine. Also, yes you can actually read the codes and flip through pages online for free. Do you have java installed? The book comes up as a java applet powered by a company called RealRead.

Re: Need NEC Code

You can read it online free, no search, print or save http://www.nfpa.org/onlinepreview/online_preview_document.asp?id=7011SB# You do have to register first which is highly annoying. I've taken care of the annoying part for anyone else interested. Email address: ryvmtrkjosfh@mailinator.com Password:...

Re: Gamming Tech's

As far as replacing "large" parts of modern cell phones and gaming systems you can follow guides on this site http://www.ifixit.com/. If you're more looking to repair logic boards I'd look elsewhere. The parts in modern phones and game consoles are so dense and small anyone without expensi...

Re: HVAC GeoThermal Heating and Cooling

Just approaching from a different angle here, can't you use antifreeze? ( GTF antifreeze ) I have no experience with geothermal systems so I may be missing something but from my viewpoint if they make the product, it's got a use. If there's a reason to not use it please inform me so I know why going...

...have had two Garmins, and both will send me down "wrong way" roads, wrong directions, totally out of the way trips.. and so on.. Unfortunately I think that's to be expected with any GPS device, some companies may be worse than others though, can't really comment there. That said I've a...

Re: Is this forum dying?

This forum certainly doesn't have the traffic some of the other sites I use do. It reminds me of this forum I used to frequent many years ago. Microcontrollers and Arduinos are steadily becoming popular with youngsters while almost all of the good ole fashioned clever design and elegance has gone ou...

Re: Bad Built-In Network Adapter

Why not swap? Use the PCI NIC and move the serial port adapters to a USB connection. You certainly won't saturate USB 2.0 with RS232 and the adapters can be had dirt cheap. Plus USB has hubs if you're low on open ports.

Re: USB to serial dongle for Linux

There are exceptions (namely non-integrated graphics and the like) but most drivers in Linux are built into the kernel or kernel modules. Common Linux distributions like Ubuntu have great OOB hardware support. The more common the device the more likely the driver is already available. I'd be surpris...

Re: Replaced a virus filled HD with a new one

You need to verify the BIOS settings, one more time. Another option might be to install the drive in a laptop with a built in DVD drive and install it that way (remove all current hard drives first! always back up your data!). It's risky though. Windows installs certain kernel modules and drivers ba...
