Re: lm3919?

Check to see if pin 5 (the input pin) can "float". If it is like digital signals, if you let it float (i.e. not connected) it will pick up stray voltage and go nuts. Chances are it should be connected to something. for a simple test, make a voltage divider (2 same resistance resistors). Ho...

Liquid tin

Has anyone ever used this? I am mainly wondering if it can be used to plate through holes on a double sided PCB. I couldn't find a definitive answer on the net.

Thanks,
Kevin

Re: Strange (font???) problem with winxp

Thanks! It is set correctly, but thanks for the suggestion.

I noticed in the install log for that asian software that it replace comctl32.dll... I wonder if that is the problem.

Re: Strange (font???) problem with winxp

Well, I did a COMPLETE virus scan with the latest AVG free and that didn't do any good (for the problem at hand)... I will try some more of your suggestions when I get a chance.

Thanks,
Kevin

Re: Strange (font???) problem with winxp

I thought about - and checked - the Language settings... They all look normal. I must admit, however, that I have never messed with any of that so I might be missing something. I can say that the last software I installed was made in asia somewhere... Search LA5034 on ebay. I am thinking of getting ...

Re: Strange (font???) problem with winxp

I have a virus scanner but I must admit I haven't updated it for more than a month - since the last time I ran it. I meant to do that last night but I forgot. And no, I don't let anyone use this computer. I can't remember changing anything, either. Actually, I did install something. It is software f...

This, if it works, is a crop of the "Run..." dialog after I click Start>Run

Strange (font???) problem with winxp

All of a sudden - yesterday, I think - my menu's and some window titles and other various text in windows went goofy. It almost seems like a font is missing/corrupt. I don't have hours to spend trying to trakc it down so I figured I would check here and see if anyone has run into this before. I did ...

Re: PCB Trace Width

Hmmm. Well then with the 30awg jumpers there should be plenty of juice available. I will have to look elsewhere for a problem.

Thanks a lot!

PCB Trace Width

I made a PCB with a USB host port. I am having trouble with the USB module and I think it micht be due to lack of current for writing to a flash drive. I can read the drive but I can't write. I used 7mil traces (even for the supply lines). I put some 30awg jumper wires in at all of the gnd/vcc lines...

Re: Is anyone else this cheap?

It is for the PIC32/FPGA project I have been working on. I have a PS2 mouse hooked up and working but I need a keyboard, too. I use a heat gun to take the parts off - once the board starts to heat up they come out pretty quickly. And yes - the board was old and worthless (to me). It may have worked ...

Is anyone else this cheap?

Today I spent about half an hour (maybe 45 mins) in my shop taking the connectors off of a motherboard. I managed to get them all off. There is VGA, LPT, (2) 9 pin DSUB (serial ports) and (2) PS2 connectors. The PS2 conns were the ones I was originally after but while I was at it I pulled the others...
