Re: Creating Magnets
In general bring a piece of iron up to the critical temperature in a magnetic field and it will become magnetic. How magnetic depends on the material properties and alloy of the iron. Lightning is a perfectly reasonable way to create high temperatures and a magnetic field inducing large current flo...

Creating Magnets
I was wondering how some of the first magnets were made. I'm not interested in electro magnets, using other magnets to make magnets, etc. I am more interested in... Lodestones "natural" but still wonder how they get their properties... Browsing the internet, found a post about Creating Mag...

Re: Ripple Cancellation
Hello Mr. Al Yes it is a Buck. How can it tell if its the load. The board works with a external power supply. I am noticing noise in the Mhz range... what do you think of this calculation... http://www.wa4dsy.net/cgi-bin/lc_filter?FilterResponse=Lowpass&poles=3&cutoff=200&funits=MHZ&...

Re: Ripple Cancellation
Hooking up a external load to the DC2DC I see lots of noise on the output. More than what you see in the photo above.

Re: Ripple Cancellation
I will answer what I can and get more info later... 67Mhz-74mv p-p ripple. What is this supply driving-a high speed clock? The load drives several processors running at 30,25,8Mz *** I can put a probe on the converter and see the same AC signal Does that period relate to any thing in the load circui...

Re: Ripple Cancellation
Whoever can solve this gets a cookie... This is my output of my Isolated DC to DC converter. http://i424.photobucket.com/albums/pp326/sambuchi/tek00021.png?t=1257898559 I have the converter wrapped in M3 tape. I am not having much luck killing this noise. I need to to go for my amplifier circuits on...

Re: Ripple Cancellation
Yeah.... I've tried to use different value caps and no luck cleaning this up. I found this nice site... http://www.wa4dsy.net/filter/hp_lp_filter.html I have some sensitive circuits on board that cant handle the output of this dc to dc converter. and using an external power supply the board works gr...

Ripple Cancellation
I have a 5V power supply that draws .06A
There is a 15mV 2.5 MHz AC ripple on this supply voltage that I want to get rid of.
What can I do here?

Re: Pulse Generation
I will need the pulse to be 50ns unfortunately. I will have some time this week to review all of this great data and then make a decision on what is practical for my testing needs.
Thanks again everyone.

PLD Starter Kits
Hello all. I was wondering if anyone here uses PLD's and if so what are some cheap ways to get started with them.
I would love to hear of an in system programmable chip & compiler & program tool for under 50.00!

Re: Pulse Generation
:D Thanks for the input everyone. This circuit will be used to test an amp circuit. For the accuracy question I would say it would have to be fairly accurate. I am testing the threshold of the data transmission and would like to meet the spec as much as possible. Bob & Robert, thanks for the gre...
