You may be able to place a resistor in series with the output of the power supply and the input pin of the LM1084 if you know appx. the minimum and maximum current.

Re: Another simple amp question
OK here's my version using two 2N3904's in a darlington configuration.
With the component values shown:
Gain = 10, load 10K
Max output = 2 volts rms before distortion begins
Current drain = .5ma
Input Impedance = 100K

Re: Another simple amp question
Yes it is, I was thinking of the emitter follower when I made that statement so stand corrected.

Re: Another simple amp question
The problem with that circuit is the low input impedance. Guitar pickups are high impedance devices that need a high impedance input amp to work correctly which is why I suggested the op amp circuit. You don't have to etch a board, you can assemble the circuit on a small "perf" board. Stev...

Re: Another simple amp question
A common emitter is not an amplifier. Why not just use a simple op amp circuit like a MCP6281?

Re: CFL vs. LED Light Bulbs
Depends on the light appearance number. If they are the same then the color should be similar. The ones on Ebay you mentioned are listed as 4000-4500K which is commonly called "natural white", 5000K are usually listed as "bright white".

Re: Copper Theft
When I worked years ago for an alarm company in new construction, we routinely connected the outside compressor with a two conductor cable that was shorted at the unit acting as a normally closed switch. When the wires were cut the alarm was triggered. Don't know if anybody was ever caught or not. S...

Somethings weird. If you didn't pay for it then what's the scam? Be careful if you get it back, could have a bomb inside waiting to blow up when you turn it on.

No!Before I buy this Lutron dimmer can you assure me it will operate smoothly?

Re: Fluorescent Dimmer - It's OK?
Another option is to replace the fluorescent bulbs with dimmable LED replacements. You will need to rewire the fixture and bypass the ballast. Use a dimmer suitable for LEDs.

Steve,
No advantage that I know of. Just what is available. Like I said It should not be a big deal, it's just an audio input coupling cap.

Re: Where to buy vintage multilayer MY103P 50V capacitors?
Not a big deal just about any .01uf capacitor should work, but here's a link to a ceramic cap from Digikey. Use the First Class USPS for the lowest cost shipping option. My question is if the audio input cap is "blown" what else might be wrong? Steve G http://www.digikey.com/product-detail...

Re: Buying Components
I keep telling myself that if these items were still available locally the cost would be much higher, so I shouldn't worry about the additional shipping charge. This generally falls under the "cost of doing business" heading. DigiKey offers First Class Postage on items under 8 ounces. Mig...
