Re: Need a DC maker..
i would use a a 30 amp or better bridge rectifier hooked up to to a variac. with a 15 second duty cycle. a ten amp variac would do, you will have to re fuse it,if you forget to turn it off, it will fry, and set the voltage before you connect it (do not adjust it under load). Better yet get a 25 amp ...

Re: test circuit schematic
e=ir
12=1000i
12/1000=.012amps or 12 ma. thats eniugh to light a led, if it changes the temperature of the nichrome wire a measurable amount i would be very surprised, but you cant go wrong by testing the circut.
good luck

if you wire a led in series with a 1k resistor across each switch, (minding the polarity), the led will light if there is contunity.

Re: connecting motors
hi Mike.
One interisting thing these stepper motors do is to make low speed generators. Try connectong a led to them using various combinations of wire connections. It may surprise you.

solar cell reverse current
simple question:
When no light is activating a solar cell, it has reverse current flow. Does that current get converted to light, heat, orsomething else?

do a google search on motor start caps. I ordered some from a company and they were about 1/3 the price the local guys could come up with.
