I was looking through the internet, and found the following website: http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Lab/5322/fbt1.htm It talks about using simple circuitry and a flyback transformer to generate very large sparks between two wires. I've got everything I need except the flyback. I know they co...

Building simple electronic sparker

Is it possible to build a simple electronic sparker similar to those found in grills? I want to have two wires that create a quick spark between them when a button is pressed. I'd like it to run off of a AA or 9V battery. Are these simple to build? I would think it is a capacitor / step-up transform...

According to their website, you can't! $10 setup fee (shown as an expensive shipping fee) - $2.50 per square inch. 2.5 * 12 sq. in. = $30 Setup Fee = $10 Shipping (est.) = $5 That's a total of $45 for a single 12 sq. in board Futurelec only wants a little over $20 for that same 12 square inch board....

Sparkfun has this service: http://www.batchpcb.com/index.php . I haven't tried it, but it looks good, and comes from a good company. Harrison Unless I'm missing something, that looks unbelivably expensive! $2.50 per square inch! Futurelec's service seems dirt cheap, especially compared to that. Has...

I think you're not getting many responces because of the student / money sentence. I think I'm one of the few (only??) students here. Nobody wants to be the first to respond :) But...if you have some PCI NIC cards or 128/256MB PC100/133 SDRAM chips and there are no other takers I might be interested.

I like it so much! everything feels so XP-like, as in buttons are smooth, with a 3D effect, everything is now nearly as modern feeling as XP. You can even make the windows resemble XP. See the screenshot at the bottom. I also love not having to have a firewall, virus scanner or spyware scanner. And ...

Do you want to sell this or not? I don't see why you would put a listing up and then ignore people interested in buying it from you.

All I'm asking is how much per foot is the large heatsink?

I have had all the parts for a JDM for a while now, just never got around to building it. However, now I'm trying to build a digitally controlled power supply, so I want PIC controlled digital resistors to control the variable regulators. So now I'd really like to build a programmer. I should just s...

I absolutely love linux. For those who haven't tried it or who have tried it and didnt like it, you have to try ubuntu's new dapper drake release. It's amazing. I can't wait until I figure out how to get XGL to work. Vista-like graphics for free! Transparancy, 3D desktop, etc. I have to admit right ...

Do you have the firewall running now or not? Also, with the SSH thing. I installed dual boot Ubuntu on my computer. If I go to Places menu and then choose Connect To Server. In the box that pops up, I choose SSSH, then type 192.168.1.1 in the Server box, and mike under the username. I click OK and t...

Getting CD-R to play in older DVD Players

I've got two older (first generation I believe) Toshiba DVD players. They play regular CDs and DVDs fine, but not DVD-R and more importantly, CD-R with music on it. The strange thing is once in a while I'll get a CD-R to play on it, but very rarely. Is there some trick I can do to get CD-R discs to ...
