Hi,
I think the smallest geometrics is a 100 pin VQFP and 32 pin TSSOP. The last the most difficult due to the distance between the rows. It's a good help to be nearsighted , at least when you are as old as I am.

Hi,
If you only want a gong type door chime this chip is excellent http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet- ... AE800.html
Iv'e used an earlier version (SAB600) 25 years, it will run on a 9v battery for several years, depending on the use.

Since the resistor takes the whole voltage as it is, I don't think it will do anything spectacular if the neon breaks, maybe go dark? :D I just went down in the basement and found an old neon indicator(unused) I bought a long time ago. It is made for 230VAC as we've got here, and the resistor is 100...

Beside the hygiene and security issue described above, I wonder how long time it takes to analyze the DNA sample this way. More than 2.9 seconds, and you cross the natural or average impatience threshold for humans. I've seen research concluding that this is the time it takes before you'll press the...

Re: RS232 - Parallel Port cable ground.
When using a parallel port or serial cable to connect to a circuit like some sort of a microcontroller project what should the cable shield goto? Should it be tied to signal ground or left floating? I assume with RS232 it should be left floating. From my experience it is not good practice to connec...

Hi Matt,
Take a look at this chip from Freescale MC33794
I think you could make something out of this. I've got a demo kit named 'KIT33794DWBEVM', but as usual I have not had the time to tinker with it. I got it for free, but I don't know if it is available any more.

Hi, This is a problem with the contact rubber or zebrastrip. When mounted the first time it is compressed a bit, and when dismantled it stays more or less in the same state, and when moved and remounted the pressure is not kept for proper contact. There may also be a problem with alignment of the co...
