Re: More Battery Info Links
I'll agree on the point about batteries being the primary limiting point of our machines. The information on battery university.com is about the same as it was when the site was first made although I didn't look through it too carefully for updates. This is probably because of people being cautious ...

Re: Interesting article on power harvesting...
I don't understand how harvesting power off of high voltage lines could be considered illegal because most people would only get enough to charge up a cell phone with that idea. The idea I had was to combine chemicals like the chemicals in solar chargers only instead of converting sunlight into elec...

Re: Class D amp in N&V Q&A
I wasn't saying it was a battery charger I was saying that it looks like the same design as a battery charger because it modulates a power supply (the 60-100 volts@10amps). Then I thought that sounds like an idea that could be done. Use an amp for a battery charger. The audio source and modulator-am...

Re: Web Host Opinion? (No Not Spam!)
Well it depends on what you need. I did a search again for a web site host because of problems with the one I am using now and I just moved about two months ago. http://www.piczo.com/ http://www.weebly.com/ http://www.webs.com/index.jsp are three choices besides microsoft office - http://www.officel...

Re: Class D amp in N&V Q&A
I know that feed-back idea works with battery chargers but I think the technical term for it is some-what similar to memristors as stated in the nuts & volts mag June or July last year. If you wanted to figure out why one would be included in an amp circuit then the best way would be to add it o...

Re: Class D amp in N&V Q&A
I didn't have the June issue at the time of my last post either but I went through the last year anyway and still couldn't find the schematic I was thinking of. The transformer in the circuit is the same type as the one in the battery charger circuit so it probably is applicable being the same type ...

Re: Class D amp in N&V Q&A
Maybe if you could out the page of the schematic and the month of the issue you might get a better response. I remember something about that but couldn't find it in the last three issues.

Re: Car Antenna Impedance
I tried using a battery for an antennae but the internal conductivities created a hiss that blocked out any other sound. The battery was a transformer type without any charge as it was just built. Why not try an old wall-wart or transformer if you have one laying around. An array of resistors in par...

Re: Recommendations for free web hosting
I switched to http://50webs.com but my site at geocities was getting to the point that I had to save files in .jpg to save space. For a small site like that you might try http://free.prohosting.com/ that offers 100 mb's but only one page. Or maybe bravenet.com that offers 50 mb's. I don't have a fil...

Re: One charger, multiple batteries
Couldn't you use the relays for determining the charge status of the batteries instead of time control. Like an overcharge protection circuit. Also if the individual cells go bad it wouldn't matter if they were in series or parallel because they most often go bad from usual use. Or maybe they could ...

Re: opnions wanted on battery reviving of NiCads
For that price and list of equipment needed you would probably need that like a hole in the head (gloves, safety goggles). But if it works I would recommend repairing ni-cads or ni-mh batteries every 3 months or so also. So I think nickel-metal-hydride ones last longer than ni-cads my-self but some ...

Re: system 7 boot disk
Thanks for the reply. I got the disk image from http://main.system7today.com/articles/tutorials/disktools.html and found out I had to sign up for stuffit expander ( free to start). I didn't know that the extension .img was the equivalent of a zip file until I read the info on the stuffit site. I lo...

system 7 boot disk
I am looking for system 7 boot disk for an older powerbook (MAC). I found a boot disk that was altered from the original to include new features so it ended up being too big to save on a floppy. The powerbook only has a 3.5 floppy on it. So I saved the boot disk and uploaded it to flicker to reduce...

Here is a link to an article that they say they could control "robot rat" from 500 feet away Sciam.com Get a rat addicted to alcohol and it would do any thing you want but can you get it to join AA Sciam.com Say they seem to be the same result but two methods. I wonder if the first try (ro...

Re: New Neural 'Brain' Controller
I was thinking of the guy who dressed up as a tin man from The Wizard of Oz and was put in a side show as the "drum machine with soul". Back in the 60's thing. I guess this worked until some one offered to buy it or rent it. Imagine getting a job where that is the good news and the bad new...
