Re: Turns ratio on audio transformer...
Hi, Yes the turns ratio is the square root of the impedance ratio. This is because for any turns ratio both the current and the voltage are affected not just one or the other like we usually think of in order to get the proper output voltage for example. Another way to look at it is to reflect all t...

Re: Found an open Radio Shack (New Jersey)
Hi again, hack: Yeah interesting. I dont get that much from them anymore but it's nice to see at least one store around here is still open. I think it is about 4 or 5 miles away. The last one we had was right in town about 1.2 miles away, but it is gone now, taken over by a sub shop "Mr Subs&qu...

Re: Craftsman Multimeter
Hi there JT, I had a problem similar to that a long time back and also with regular alligator clip jump leads. With the jump leads, it was always the alligator would come loose and had to be resoldered, but once done, it worked well again. With the probe wires i had to cut the wire at the bend, then...

Found an open Radio Shack (New Jersey)
Hi, I found an open Radio Shack believe it or not. I wanted to get a small meter to check automobile stats so i took a ride over there the other day and found it was still open. It's in Somerset in the KMart (now part of Sears) mini mall. I was surprised so i asked the guy if they were going to stay...

Re: Craftsman Multimeter
Hi, What do you need to know maybe we can help in another way. I have a Craftsman meter too i got a long time ago, It was my first meter that went up to 3999 count while the others only went up to 1999 count. I like it and use it a lot, but what i dont like about it is the Ohms reading takes a while...

Hi, Oh ok, well i rather hear that you finally got it working then to hear that you still didnt get it working. That's great. I am a little su...

Re: can't find USB/Serial driver..
i replied earlier that i did find the driver and installed it... arduino sees it now, but still won't download to it.. Arduino shows as connected to com 6, but Arduino shows error code that cannot connect via com 8 i am thinking that arduino only sees FTDI deviced, and not the CH340G Hi, Sorry to h...

Re: Demise of telephone landline
Hello there, Some years ago i vowed to never give up my copper line but then some years after that i was offered a "good deal" to convert to all Fios. What came after that was just nuts. There is a wall box and a TV box and a router in the house where once there was just a TV box. Cables r...

Hi again,
Ok great. We could go through the math, but because of the accuracy limits here it's probably not worth the effort.
Good luck with it...

Re: TC wire question..
well i am not able to do the check directly at the sensor with the meter, because with the engine running and a swinging prop is out of my comfort zone, and the CHT probes are very difficult to get to, they are under engine shrouds.. the EGT probe is not too bad to get to, but still not easy. to do...

Re: TC wire question..
Hi, It is starting to sound like this meter has some specifics that might allow it to work to some degree without the right kind of wire. For one, the accuracy doesnt sound that good. It sounds like there is also no cold junction compensation, which would make it more inaccurate than a good meter bu...

Re: Batteriser
Hi, This is starting to look like a bust, but there may be some applications that can benefit. It's going to be very hard to say for the ones that actually do drop out at 1.3 volts. The company ad campaign is totally BS though, as they are claiming 800 percent increase for devices that cut out at 1....

Re: Batteriser
Hi, I like your question about the quiescent current draw, i hadnt thought about that yet myself. With some modern circuits we can get this current down very low, such that we see the cell working for 2 years without fail. I did this for my refrigerator monitor, where i wanted it battery operated bu...

Re: TC wire question..
Hi there dac, First question, does it work normally without the extra wire? You should test that first to make sure it works normally before adding anything. The main idea here is that the meter has to know the temperature of the end of the wire that the meter has access to. That is so that it can p...
