Re: Remotes

Hi Enzo,
If you have a digital camera with a LCD-display, you can see the IR light too.
TOK ;)

Re: magnetic sensor help

Hi Mike,
Have you tried Hall-effect sensors?
http://www.allegromicro.com/hall/
I don't know if your application can use this, but have a look!
TOK ;)

Re: Design Patterns on your oscilloscope

Craig,
If you ordered the book, you'll get the info on the Syntheshape yourself. But if you'll have a copy any way, I'll email it to you.
TOK ;)

Re: Design Patterns on your oscilloscope

Craig-1, In the 'Projects in Sight, Sound & Sensation' book you've asked for in another posting, there is a project like the one you ask about here. The 'Syntheshape - Oscilloscope Art Generator' generate some hefty patterns on your scope.
I got the book from Abebooks just the other day, sorry...

Re: pic pwm feasible?

Hi Matt, Rstofer gave you a very good advice on this. You need a PID regulation for this application. And just for the heck of it, you may also try to get som knowledge about Fuzzy Logic. I'm not sure if Microchip has done any proper application on this, but I found some papers when I searched their...

I suppose your mission is completed, with success. :D But I still think the fuse blew!
TOK ;)

Re: Freq to voltage converter for use with computer HDD LED

Hi Jon, If you use an optocoupler as the interface by connecting the optocoupler LED in the HDD LED circuit, you can use the output transistor either in a source or sink configuration. I'm not sure what you want to display, is it the number of accesses or the time the HDD is accessed. If it is the t...

Re: Power calculation

Hi Stephen, Sorry about the mess. (It was a bit late, 2AM in my part of the world).
It is easy to see it if you use two samples. Sample 1 = 1, and sample 2 = 0. 1 x 1 = 1. The average is 1/2. The RMS= sqrt(1/2) = 1/sqrt(2).
Hate to admit it, but I jumped the conclusion! :( (And was out of grid!...

Re: a circuit exhibiting exponential decay ??

Hi Pebe, In this case I think your hypothetical fuse will blow instantly (or close to), because of the hypothetical current soaring to infinity. I suppose you use a capacitor with a hypothetical internal resistance of zero ohm. :D
And Joesplink: To be serious, the 10 volts in this example is bett...

Re: a circuit exhibiting exponential decay ??

The main question in this is: Does the flashlight lamp work with the single 1.5V cell at all? Your connection does not increase the voltage with the capacitor, so do you have light when you connect the lamp over the battery? I've always used at least 2 x 1.5V cells (3V) in my flashlights.
(But we ...
