Greetings dacflyer, i never understood 50ohm - 75 ohm cables.. i never could detect a resistance.. whys it called that ? The cables in question are transmission lines used to convey RF energy (or high speed digital data). There are two important characteristics of a transmission line. One is that th...

Greetings Hacklesup, Flammable is the ability (ease) to ignite (catch fire). Combustion is the process of burning (being on fire). Did you read this link and this link to Wikipedia entries that I posted? I can combust a flammible substance but can there be a substance that is flammible but not combu...

Greetings (No Name Supplied), Its the 386 Audio Amplifier (typical application) in the Forest Mimms Radio Shack books, page 11 in my copy (though mine is from the 80's). Basically its just the 386, a capacitor and variable resistor. I don't have that particular reference handy. Here's a well known a...

Re: Building simple amplifier using 386 Amplifier chip
Greetings (No Name Supplied), I built a simple audio amplifier from a 386 amplifier chip. The sound coming out of the speaker is not too bad, but sometimes a little staticy. What does "staticy" mean? Are you hearing something when there is no input signal? Is the reproduced sound defective...

Re: How Much Current for Line-Following Sensor QRD1114??
Greetings (No Name Supplied), I answered a very similar question on another forum recently. Perhaps the two of you can get together and work as a team? Comments Welcome! The question: How would you conduct the experiment I mention above? What am I looking for to tell me I have the right LED current?

Greetings (No Name Supplied), yes, thanks - I think what happened was that I went to that link and got sidetracked for a while... I think we've all done that at least once! I asked as I wasn't sure if the link was useful, the last thing I'd want to see is a PIC vs AVR vs ARM war, as they each have a...

Greetings brad, I am getting like 3 milli volts rms. The wave form is a sin wave. I can't remember the freq it was probably over 10 kHz it was a 10 V peak to peak voltage the meter is a fluke 179 is the freq to high? The meter is spec'd to cover 100KHz, so that's probably not the issue. Time to do a...

Greetings (No Name Supplied), I just sent them the battery and they rebuilt it. The battery came back with fresh glue at the seams, they must use some sort of heating method to take them apart. I tried to take apart a 9.6 volt battery and broke the case. the battery had my initials engraved in it so...

Re: rms meter reading on function generator
Greetings Brad, I have 5vp on my oscope my meter is not showing 3.5v rms is there something I am not doing correct? Your meter may be calibrated to read ACrms for sinewaves only. Is the waveform you're measuring a sinewave? Also, the meter will have a limited bandwidth, trying to measure signals out...

Greetings (No Name Supplied), I think the connection would go like this: MC----->UART----->TX In Or is there a more efficient way to hook it up? That's about it, assuming that the USART is a uC hardware type. If it's a software UART you can skip it and use any port pin for serial data. This radio li...
