Re: dusk switch adjustable sensitivity...
I'm not quite sure that you will be able to get an on or off with the present set up. I suggest using a photo transitor in series with a variable resistor, or a CdS cell in series with a variable resistor, producing an adjustable voltage divider. Connect the common node of the comparator to a Schmit...

Re: diy guitar effects
I built a guitar amplifier out of a lm386. It doesn't sound all that bad and in fact is fairly loud so as I can use it for recording. I plan on building another one out of the lm1875 20w amplifiers, my idea is to have a single input channel, feeding into two lm1875's each driving it's own speaker (I...

Re: Pay more for green energy?????
I'm not sure I would be willing to pay more, unless it was to come from some outrageous source that I would find interesting. For example, a few windmills here aren't justified, but load half of the midwest with windmills and I would definately pay extra. The geothermal prospect is another good one,...

Re: voice control
bobsRAC, do you have any experiance with the Sensory chips? That is sort of what I am looking for, the easyiest implementation. The only problem is that I would have to deal with surface mount unless I bought a module, however I guess with the sort of complexity involved in such a thing, that is wha...

Does anyone know of any IC that can have words recorded on them, and then be set into a listening mode, where upon once hearing the a particular word spoken gives a specific output? I've seen some information on Philips "Hello IC", but thought I would see what anyone else suggest.
Thank...

Re: Animatronics
This is just an idea, but, perhaps nitinol could be molded into a latex "mask". The latex is essentially "cast" so the nitinol could be placed where movement is needed. There may be some need to anchor the wires in the latex, but it may be possible to create something very life l...

Re: 555 to digital interface problem
The first thing that I can tell is that you might have a problem if you are using TTL and CMOS. The 74163 comes in both, and so does the 7400. Not to mention the 555 which also comes in a handy CMOS version. Heres a simple list of types CMOS: CD, HC, AHC, AC
TTL: LS, TTL, S, ALS, AS, F, BCT, ABT, ...

Re: track bouncing
Yes, you have it, when I record on a track, I hear what it already recorded on another track, and what is being recorded, on the headphones (1/4" stereo) and the same signal is seen at the RCA mixdown outputs of which I listed the specs. Yeah, I'm almost positive that what I am trying to do is ...

Re: track bouncing
It's a Tascam porta03mkII. Yes, it has a switch for selecting the track to record on, and the inputs for instruments or mics are the 1/4 mono plugs, of which there is two...two inputs and each input can be selected to go any of 4 tracks. The output used for mixing down the 4 track tape to a stereo t...

track bouncing
I have a Tascam 4-track recorder that I would like to bounce tracks on. This basically involves connecting the RCA outputs (used for mixing down) into the 1/4" mono input jacks. My problem is that a pure connection without any circuitry doesn't have enough volume when recorded, and if I increas...

I got the LM339's working, thanks to National Semi, but I am still open to suggestions on a better way of doing this in analog.
Douglas Isenberg

6 input analog comparator
First off, I'm having trouble with TI's LM339N quad comparator. My design is based on three of these, none of which seem to work. The problem is that they will not switch from low to high. They will go low alright, but when the input voltage is changed so that the output should swing high, I measure...
