Re: Servo control help

All present day servos require a positive going pulse of 1.5 +-0.5 milliseconds duration every 20 to 30 milliseconds. A 1 millisecond wide pulse drives it to one extreme and a 2 millisecond pulse drives it to the other extreme, distance being proportional to the width of the pulse. An excellent sigh...

Inhouse audio distribution

Some time back I saw a project that let you put the audio from any source such as TV, radio, Phono etc. on the AC lines in a dwelling and then a second unit that could be plugged into any outlet on the same AC distribution and reconstitute the audio. Any one remember the source of that project or ca...

Re: Linux question

I agree with K.Soenk, Ubuntu is quite easy to use. I have installed it on five different old (out of date units that have been replaced by newer systems) with great success. I have used most of the versions since Fiesty Fawn through version 9.4. In most cases, I just let Ubuntu replace Win on the ol...

Changing file extensions using Windows XP or Win7

I have a CAD program that uses micros written in a form of basic. These are plain text programs like you create in Word Pad. They need to be saved with the extension .d3m but; I seem to not be able to save them in any form using Word Pad. It always ends up putting their own file extension on the end...

Re: Run Time error 71

I did download and run REGCURE which said and found and fixed a few errors. Now, when I try to reinstall DesignCAD Pro 2000, I still get an error just a different one. I get the message in the following 5 lines after it gets 61% of the way through the installation process: An error occurred during t...

Run Time error 71

I just had to use advanced recover on my computer running Windows XP and consequently lost all my programs. I'm trying to reinstall a program I had (Design Cad 2000) but now I get "runtime error 71, disk not ready) when I try to install the program. Since it installed properly before, what migh...

Re: Will OpenOffice work with the new Windows7 64 bit

Update, I downloaded the latest version of Open Office thru Hippofiles into my new laptop with Windows 7 installed. It works great, I'm very impressed as it does all that microsoft office does plus a bit more and all for free. I can highly recommend it as a substitute for Word and Excel as well as P...

Re: Unregulated power to servo ?

There is one possible problem doing this. Depending on the servo design, if the signal output from the receiver to the servo is limited in amplitude, the servo may not respond properly. For instance, it the servo requires an input with a peak amplitude of more than half the servo supply voltage (a c...

Removeing items from start up menu

I have way to many items on my start up menu. However, I am having a hard time trying to eliminate the unwanted ones. I go to Start>run?msconfig and let it load. I click on Startup and get a list of the items. I uncheck those I want to eliminate. However, I do not get the typical (as shown in the bo...

Re: Where to put jumpers on a hard drive for slave?

Thanks for the info. I did find it on the drives. Found out one other thing, you must make sure the BIOS is set up to recognize that second drive. Mine wasn't and I wasted a lot of time until I found that out.

Where to put jumpers on a hard drive for slave?

I have some older hard drives that I want to intall to use as a second drive on the computer. There are several different brands. All have the little jumper(s) that plug over pins at the rear of the hard drive to determine whether it is a spare or primary drive. Is there a standard configuration for...

Re: Changing my religion- to linux

[I've now installed Ubuntu on three different computers, one with AMD and two with Intel processors. All went on very easily and gave no problems with one exception. I have not been able to get a Brother's or Lexmark printer to work with any of them. All worked well with HP printers, did not even ha...
