My Optrex LCD
I have a large Optrex graphic LCD, model DMF-50840.
It doesn't have a controller.
I'm still a n00b when it comes to a lot of aspects of electronics, so I'm asking if someone can look over the data sheet and tell me if a SED1330-compatible controller could be made from a PIC? If it can be done, I...

With current draw, I think everyone's overlooking the point where current draw is the maximum on most cordless drills.
The brake. You take your finger off the trigger, the electronic brake engages, current is used to stop the motor.
Does your battery have a mAh rating stamped on it? If so, you c...

Re: IR transmitter-detector
What's wrong with going the simple route of a steady IR beam and a comparator on the other end to set a threshold of IR light? I know there could be problems with IR leakage, but I highly doubt it in this case.

Re: need help matching inputs to PA amp
To expand upon what Russ is saying, I'll add a couple things:
1) You may or may not have to match the input. If your amplifier has a 1/4" jack (looks like a headphone jack) for microphone input, you'll be fine. That's a "High-Z", or high impedence, input. If it has an XLR (three pin...

Re: A KiloWatt is a KiloWatt...
I disagree.
It seems logical that efficiency would come into play, just the same as it does in DC power supplies.

Re: Stamp vs PIC microcomputers
I started in PIC programming almost a year ago. It seems funky at first, especially if you've never written code in assembler before.
With the STAMP, there are commands that make up several lines of assembler. The stamp is much easier if you've used a program such as BASIC before.
In short, I've...

I'm not sure what devices you're using for vision Harold, but I have a little idea.
Take a laser diode (any wavelength) and put it through a diffraction grating. The pattern reflecting off objects would be something like:
A CCD camera would have a filter on it, the same wave...

Re: WTB for friend: Cheap 12V 20A supply
I've been banned from the net for a while. Sorry.
Wayne: yes, I received it. Thanks a bunch, works great! Sorry I wasn't able to let you know earlier :(
I was thinking about chaining two of my 10amp comp supplies together. Would I just be able to parallel the outputs? It doesn't seem like it w...

Re: Need help with DC-DC conversion
Well I was figuring a 555 timer to generate the pulse signal, and then 2 MOSFETS in parallel (would this work????) to switch the 12VDC through the transformer...
I mean, I understand the whole concept of SMPS...but what worries me is the 350W capacity that I need to cover.

Need help with DC-DC conversion
I need to convert 12VDC to +/-56VDC at 8A.
I can't afford an off-the-shelf product, but I have plenty of parts around, and I can buy small stuff like transformers.
thanks!

Re: Small Jameco fall catalog
I got the small catalog too. It was filled with hardly any parts, and a lot of "home electronics" stuff. I'm suprised that Jameco is expanding to that line of products.
I didn't think much of the small catalog though, because I have 10+ past catalogs that do just fine.
