Re: Electric Go-Kart

Well...I bid on that motor. I'll probably end up with roughly half the power of your 1hp motor if mine is ran at 48 volts...going by V^2/R. I should have a little more run time with similar batteries and I also don't know if I want to run that cheaper motor with much more than 2x the rated input vol...

Re: Electric Go-Kart

I'm tempted to buy this cheap thing to play around with. Is this a complete waste of money?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem
[ April 08, 2005: Message edited by: Vincent ]

Re: Electric Go-Kart

That's a little too much for me to start out with. Hopefully jwax can do something sick with it.
Most of the motors are rated at a certain RPM. What should I be looking at? To go 35mph with 10" diameter tires, the axle needs to turn 590 times per minute. So, should I just look for a 2000-250...

Electric Go-Kart

I was wondering how difficult a project like this will be? I searched the archives and found that a few of you guys have done this.
Did you follow plans or did you improvise on everything? How much should I expect to spend?
I don't have a lot of experience in constructing things like this, but...

Re: Unsoldering IC's

hey...thanks. Great ideas.
I'll try to pick up a can of compressed air for now. I can cut the bad one, but I have an identical board I am using for parts, so I can't cut the IC off of it.
Any idea on where to find that tool, David?

Unsoldering IC's

I have a small 16(?) pin IC that I want to unsolder from a circuit board and replace it with another one. How can I do this? It's a double-sided board so it's hard to suck the solder out from each pin's socket. I am unable to warm each leg up quick enough to be able to pull it out.
Thanks!

Simple RC Car Project

I have never worked with anything to do with RF. I don't really know where to start.
I searched for quite a while last night for a link, but I didn't have any luck.
I have two cheap motors attached to a wheel from SciPlus. I'm not looking to build a fast RC car. I just need a simple project to i...

Re: What kind of part

Haha...nice site Mike. Some of those descriptions were funny. I ordered way too many things.
The latching relay will work perfect. I just need to find a good supplier. The SC rectifier looks like it may work too.

What kind of part

What kind of part should I be looking for...
I need something that senses current and then stays on even if the applied voltage is stopped.
Kind of like a relay that conducts and continues to even if the current is removed from the coil.
Also...where do you get cheap electric motors to play ar...

Re: Where do you get your parts?

I like Mouser. We have to pay tax since it's in Texas, but we get the parts in 1-2 days everytime with regular ground shipping.

What is the 555? An IC?
Do you think I will be able to find it at Radio Shack or over the net?
Thanks!
