I remember a few months back I read in N&V that you should never hook up voltage regulators in parallel. They really don't like it, and they're always trying to balance each other out.

I just started a job where one of the things I do is program PLC's. We use Allen Bradley PLC's and program them with Rockwell RSLogix. Thing is, I have no prior experience with PLC's, and they weren't expecting me to. They've had me do increasingly complicated tasks for training. As far as getting s...

How the heck did a thread about a dog pissing when it gets shocked get 99 replies spanning 7 pages? Not only that, but I'm seeing posts with ridiculous amounts of text. I'm not going to waste a fraction of the time reading what you've written that you took to write it in the first place. I'd be real...

I have never once heard a commentator use the phrase "and whatnot" :x

There's a huge difference between today's nascar and state fair pig contests.

"and whatnot" is a lower form of "et cetera" anyway.

Watching Sulfur hexafluoride is an all day thing! A popular morning radio show around here had a "science day" where they had people from the Franklin Institute (philadelphia science museum) bring in some sulfur hexaflouride for a demonstration. They filled up balloons with it and then ha...

Also, since money is the root of all evil, it can also be used to quickly detect fraud or other crimes in progress in other ways too. For example, all we have to do is get a hold of Newmans electric bills for the past say 10 years (date today is 07/14/2007). If his electric usage went down signific...

Funny how Big Screens were the thing, now too tiny to see or use empties your wallet.

Less than 19" for the web is for hobbits.
Who needs a wood chipper when you have this blender?

i don;t even know if the shooting games work with flat lcd -plasma etc screens... part in i don't think they have a scan line that can be detected... The old style "phototransistor" technology (nintendo) light guns do not work with projection TV's. Not sure if they work with LCD but I'm 9...

I always thought that the reason to not use games on a rear projection TV was burn-in. Not so much nowadays, but a lot of older games would have bars at the top or bottom of the screen that would be there a majority of the time, and rear projection TV's were easier to damage this way rather than CRT...

Thanks a lot, i'll have to take a look at them. It looks like application notes are the way to go when you're trying to work with a new kind of signal, since it shows you what you're working with and how to do it. I found an application note from Maxim about some op-amp or something that discussed A...

NTSC S-Video signal levels

The LCD panel in my D.I.Y. projector has a contrast control but no brightness control. It runs off Composite NTSC. I crank up the contrast and the brights are OK, but dark scenes get "lost". What I figure I could do is use the S-video output of the equipment I'm using with it. Take the Lum...

Atmel makes the AVR series of microcontrollers... I just got into them after getting an EE degree, fun things to play around with. Real cheap too... All the software needed to design and program is free, you can build your own parallel port programmer for a couple bucks, and the AVR's themselves are...
