Re: Is Nuts and Volts dead ?

Thanks. We need fresh ideas. Nobody seems to be buying paper magazines anymore. The only bookstores left are....is Barnes and Noble. And they are shrinking even further. Perhaps at least add more entries to your homepage. For example, you still have raspberry pi original board posted. I mean things ...

Re: Is Nuts and Volts dead ?

And why is it impossible to login to my account? Who would guess that you have to click on 'subscribe' to log in to your account? What genius thought it would be a good idea? Why would anybody click on 'subscribe' unless they WANT to subscribe? Who would click on 'subscribe' if they are already subs...

Re: off grid solar project

I've done a side off-grid solar system. I have some panels outside the house. They are for 12 volt systems. I have it set up quite simply really. [solar] -> [controller] --> [12v lead acid] Simple, right! I have connected, some LCD clocks, LED night lights, other misc [on/off] lights, USB phone char...

I saw this 555 timer circuit, but it's missing a pin assignment.
Lets play guess that pin.

Re: telephone interface

T-mobile lets you download wifi phone app to your devices. That will let you make calls using your cell phone's account. And you can do this even if your cell phone is off and discharged. This would be t-mobile's own app and you need a t-mobile account. If your copper phone is verizon, you can ask v...

Re: Not-A-Fuse fuse?

DC battery pack.
I just built a 3 cell lithium pack. So about 9 - 12 volts.
I also built one last year that uses one cell lithium ion pack at 3 - 4 volt.

Re: Is Nuts and Volts dead ?

Unfortunately, nuts and volts needs a new business model. I'm no money-making business tyrant. No, I don't have any brilliant ideas. All I know is that magazines today are almost all online and are often free of charge. You could do advertising, but you'll get five pennies a month. I think many of u...

Not-A-Fuse fuse?

How about a not-a-fuse fuse? In a test-bench situation: A fuse blows, that's annoying A solid state fuse can oscillate. ( set-reset loop ) A resettable fuse can oscillate. ( set-reset loop ) So, what else? How about this. Lets say you want to replace a 10 A fuse at x volts. What if this "fuse&q...

Isolate/split power supply

What do you even call it? I have a battery. I want to test it's voltage and current passing through. The easiest way is to break the circuit and insert a separate multi-tester to find voltage and current, etc.... And now, for constant monitoring. There are two wire [panel] digital volt meters scatte...

Charging lithium ions

I have a stack of 18650 cells. Any charger I put them in will raise the voltage to 4.2 volts. That's great, but as we know, it will kill the cell at that voltage after a few months. Since I can't find a charger that will charge it to a lower voltage, say 3.7 or 3.8 volts. What do you think of a disc...

Re: Is Nuts and Volts dead ?

Are we still trying to figure out if NV is dead?
Sad fact, but like it or not, it is fading slowly.
I remember when I was still reading Radio Electronics in cuneiform on clay tablets. Those were the days.

And, yes, I would love to replace battery packs, if possible, if practical.
