Re: Super Beetle Voltage Regulator Question
I'm not going to be much more help then. I've never seen an alternator with a separate regulator and I'm not sure how to test an alternator.
The best I can suggest is look for some vw enthusiast sites - there are few cars with such an avid fan base as the VWs. Also, find some books. There are tons...

Re: Super Beetle Voltage Regulator Question
oh yeah, if you find out its a battery problem, and you get a new battery, make sure to get the one that has the shield over the + post. I guess if you don't have that you'll see sparks when someone sits down on the back seat.

Re: Super Beetle Voltage Regulator Question
I'm helping my brother restore his '67 beetle 1500 sedan. Sounds like your car has a generator, not an alternator.
Test the voltage at the battery with the car running. It should be a solid 14.5 volts. If it is, things are working OK.
Regarding your regulator, the fifth wire, the one where two w...

So, correct me if I'm wrong...
If I startup my pic and set my outputs low (0) I'm basically draining my battery and getting no motion from my motor, right?
If so, that would explain a lot. Thank goodness for rechargable batteries.

Here's a shot:
Create a cord that plugs into the wall outlet. Put a receptical on it so that the waffle iron plugs into your reciptical. | <- wall outlet (8) (8) =))---|YOUR DEVICE| --(8) =))--|WAFFLE IRON|-- |
In between, use some device to detect either: a: current flowing through the circuit ...

Re: Making hydrogen from water & DC
I've just moved to Iowa, a state whose primary produce is corn. Here they give a $0.10 per gallon price break if you use the gasoline with 10% ethanol. (corn based) It is 89 octane (compared to the 87 that costs $0.10/g more).
Most cars run fine with ethanol, I hear. Some high performance engines ...

Ah, this note explains it well. http://www.phanderson.com/stamp/tutorial_3.html
He uses the stepper motor as an example, and he even clearly illustrates half stepping.
I think I've got it. Any additional feedback is 100% welcome and appreciated.

Re: ULN2803A Darlington array - GRR
This is a new concept to me. I understand sinking current, I think. For example, a pin on a Pic can be an output and it can either put out 5v, low mA when the pin is on, or it can pass 5v, slightly higher mA, to ground when the pin is off.
I looked for open collector on google, and found this expl...

ULN2803A Darlington array - GRR
I'm hooking up a Toshiba ULN2803A darlington array to my pic in order to control a stepper motor. I'm using a 9v battery to power the whole circuit. There's a 7805 regulator (et all) knocking the voltage down to 5v for the pic. I'm getting just about 5v at the pic, and at least 6v (sometimes 7 or a ...

Re: Serial Programmer or Kit 81 Software
For the archives, the kit 81 (aka kit81, k81) is a "P16pro" and is supported by the freeware version of PicAll aka PicAllW . Aparently my computer is too fast, so I had to go to "Settings" -> "Hardware Setup/Test" -> Click the KIT81 button, then uncheck "AutoAdjust...
