Thanks for the crystal clear reply Chris. You're explanation is well thought out and concise, and avoids the disjointed ramblings one would expect from someone not in complete control of his faculties.
Have a great day

But I gotta say, I've run into a much higher percentage of morons in the civilian workface than I ever did in the military... I think Chris forgot his meds again. Perhaps he'll thank a Soldier, S...

HD Radio
I hear a lot of commercials touting the new HD radio as a free service. I also see receivers at around $300. My semi logical mind says there must be a cheaper way to recieve this free service, and i would think there would be no legal problems? Any ideas?

Re: METAL DETECTORS
Ismail, are you looking for a "treasure hunter" type of system to detct buried objects, or a WTMD (Walk Thru Metal Detector) to find hidden weapons, or what? I guess my question is.. what is the application for the unit?

I for one appreciate Chris' bold leadership by example on this one. Politics is a far cry from the logic of electronics, and really doesn't belong here.

Re: looking for a Motorola V710 Cell phone
Wayne, I think the cell companies do it because they can... I think they are afraid of competition, and by forcing a 2 year contract, they dont have to constantly compete for your business. I suspect one company will eventually break ranks, and the others will have to do the same to remain competiti...

One of our older pieces of equipment (early to mid 80's) used a system exactly like that, although the distance was across a few feet of moving conveyor belt, instead of a few inches. The transmitter/receiver was one unit, built by Micro Switch, USA, Part number FEMLS7A 1011. We used a white bicycle...

Re: How does drill variable speed work?
initial question: "How does a variable speed drill work?" Without doing all the math, and with my apologies to Einstein, I was able to determine... answer: they work great! let's bury this thread and move on... maybe we could get a thread going about practical electronics. best regards to ...
