Power Latching IC
Hello folks, I have a circuit that I would like to power when a button is pressed. It draws under 50 mA's. I would use the uP to toggle a control line to turn the circuit off again. And I would like very low current drain while the circuit is in low power mode awaiting wake up. So I need some sort o...

Why not use something like a VIA motherboard (they are small) and you could add a serial based LCD. Then you could stick with a major OS like Linux or Windows (Hey I heard you laughing in the background). What is your objective with this device..meaning, is it battery powered, or can you plug it in,...

Where to find an Electrical Engineer?
I have a business and I need to find a qualified engineer to do an embedded design for us. We have reached out to a few people, but it is hard to find qualified (or available , or even someone interested) people that want to work on a project basis. So that being said, does anyone have any recommend...

Image Capture On Embedded Device
I have the need to capture either a still image or a small amount of video, and then get that "object" for transfer to another location using an embedded processor. Does anyone have any advice? Do I need to build my own video/pix capture device, or is there one out there (a module) that I ...

Credentials to call yourself an Engineer?
My partner and I own an engineering design firm. I meet and work with people all the time that call themselves engineers, yet my practical experience and knowledge quickly shows me that I am more of an engineer than they are. So my question is, when can you call yourself an engineer. Is it based on ...

ZX-1281 Dev Board & Demo Software
Hello Folks. I just got my ZX-1281 Dev Board in the mail today. Has anyone else purchased one? Do you know where I can find some sample code? It set up real well and seems nicely designed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Converting power from a solar Cell
I have ordered a 6V 50mAh Solar Cell from RadioShack (I was in a hurry...). Is there a way other than using an inefficient regulator to output 3v or 3.3v while beefing up the current output (I don't expect it to double). My use case is that I want to power a 2.4ghz transceiver that uses about 26 to ...

Well here is what I am working on. I have built a radio device based on Chipcon (now TI)'s Zigbee chip the cc2430. I don't use the Zigbee stack, but rather have created my own protocol, and have built the boards already. They talk to each other just fine (but not after some pain. See below...). Acco...

Source for Purchasing Crystals
Hello folks. I am in need of purchasing crystals that are 32.000 MHz and have a load capacitance as follows (10 pF Min - 13pF Typ - 16 pF Max). The operating range needs to be from -30c to +80c. I have looked in Mouser and Digikey, but everything they have is 18pF. Any sugestions for a great crystal...

Re: Multiple power sources, 1 output
haklesup/Robert Reed, Thanks for getting back to me. You both bring up great points. I checked out the chip at maximic. Looks like just what I was in search of. However, I was actually looking to see if there was a product that was already complete. I am trying to build my project with "off the...

Multiple power sources, 1 output
I have a need to supply 12 volts to a project I am working on. I need the source to be a 12 volt feed, a local battery and/or 120 volt source. So the three possibilities are a 12 volt line from some remote source, a 12 volt internal battery, 120 v AC source (which also charges the internal battery)....
