Ultrasonic cleaning
The guy that sells me ink, to refill my printer's ink cartridge, has a little bath, the size of a car battery, that he fills with water and he then puts a glass, with a little water in it, in the bath and he puts the clogged cartridge in the glass. When the machine works it cleans the microscopic ho...

Re: Zapped oscilloscope
On my oscilloscope, the ground from the probe and the chassis ground are connected together, so if I use an isolation transformer but I plug the oscilloscope chassis ground to the house ground, then my isolation transformer doesn't isolate me anymore.

Re: Zapped oscilloscope
In the electrical panel, the ground and the neutral are connected together, so if we use the ground and an isolation transformer, we still have a physical connection to the neutral in the electrical panel. In my case, if I connect the probe in a 120Vac circuit, it might be OK, but when I connect the...

Re: DELCO Radio info needed
It drifts, I mostly listen to AM 730, then it starts to sound like a broken speaker, then I set it to 720 or 740 and is sounds better, then it starts to sound bad again, I bring it back to 730. I can do this 10 times an hour. It is a digital radio, not the old one with the variable capacitor.

Re: Electric Go-Kart
Northern Tools sells a nice differential for go-karts and just around $75.00, but if you install it, you need 4 bearings, 2 at the end of the shaft and 2 close to the casing. I bought one, didn't install it yet but they look solid, they have a 1 inch shaft.

Re: DELCO Radio info needed
I have a old Delco radio/tape deck in my car and the AM channels keep drifting particularly when I hit a bump, I tried to take it apart to see if there is a loose connection but the thing has about 6 different PCB positioned in a way that you can't have access to some of them without taking it apart...

Re: Electronic energy savings
The regulation here in Quebec, works about the same. In the Montreal area, the walls must have R-20 insulation and the attic must be R-30, further up north, the requirements are a little higher. Is there a web site where they how to estimate the heat loss of a building according to it's characterist...

Re: Electronic energy savings
There is at least one company, that I know of here in Montreal, and I am sure there are plenty of them in the US, that specialise in managing energy in supermarket. They use the heat from the freezers' condenser to heat the store in the winter and by managing the heating and cooling of the store at ...

Re: PIC Programmer
Mr. Philba
That device looks interesting, it doesn't say if it will work with the 18F family though. As far as programming a 16F877, I have a programmer that works well, I made it from an article, in Poptronics, and it will program pretty much every PIC up to the 16F family.
Thanks

Re: PIC Programmer
The reason I wanted to program a 18F is because this microcontroller has an enhanced PWM that can be used to drive a half bridge and you can add to it a dead band to make sure that the two transistor of the bridge dont conduct at the same time and there isn't any of the 16F microcontroller that has ...

PIC Programmer
I am looking for some simple diagram and software or some inexpensive kit to program PICs. Ideally it could program them "in circuit" as well as out of circuit. I am looking at something that could program the 18Fxxxx family, specifically the 18F4431.
Thanks

Miguel
I have the manual, it is a booklet of 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", and it has 60 pages, if you want a copy of it, I would have to find somebody to scan it and E-mail it to you. The company doesn't have the book on their website? Let me know.
Thanks

Re: Zapped oscilloscope
I had this problem when, not thinking, I plugged my scope on a circuit, that rectifies
120 Vac to 170 Vdc, so there is no way to do that without a coupling transformer.
M. Externet
Are you looking for a diagram for a Hitachi V-212?
Thanks

Zapped oscilloscope
I plugged my oscilloscope on a circuit fed by the 120 Vac utility power line without thinking that the oscilloscope's negative side of the probe is grounded and of course sparks flew. It is not the first time this happens to me, but this time the channel #1 doesn't work properly. When I compare it w...
