Re: PIC problems
When I programmed the PIC with the serial cable, it verified OK, and I did another verify to be sure and it still verified OK. The serial cable method works much better with my newer computer ( Pentium II ), than with my fried computer ( Pentium I ). I was only able to program once, with the Pentium...

Re: PIC problems
Mr. Philba I'm using the Op-Amp version of the programmer. I am generating Vpp through a wall wart that gives about 19 Volts DC. I fried my PC's motherboard while testing my project, which is an inverter driven by a PIC 18F4431 that is used to drive four IGBTs. All of this is to try to control a tra...

Re: PIC problems
The programming voltage is 13.5 Volts, that might be too much. The Vdd voltage is 4.98V - 5.00V it is fed through a 7805 with the appropriate decoupling capacitor, as per the designer diagram. The diagram can be found at www.stolz.de.be , you then click at "Hardware". The design of the pro...

Re: PIC problems
Mr. Philba Your reply gave me an idea, I tried commecting power to the PIC without connecting anything else and the PIC still drew .6 Amp. probably because it is now fried, but when it was in the PCB I didn't change any parts or anything. It would be like for example, if I was working on my computer...

Re: PIC problems
Matt I have been going through the circuit many, many times. The problem is that this circuit has been working for the last 3 month, when it blew up, I changed all the parts ( PIC 16F876, MAX232 and LM741 Op Amp) the rest are wires and resistors, I measured all the voltage and every signals with the...

PIC problems
A little while back somebody on this forum ( Mr. Philba I think) suggested a do-it-yourself PIC programmer which I build and work great....for a while. After having a little "accident" with my project, my programmer no longer works. I had two programmers that worked well, when I zapped one...

Re: building a programmer for pic12f629-e/p
There is this website www.stolz.de.be that has everything you need to build your own Microchip ICD2 clone and as a bonus you get to use the debugger feature. It works great and it will cost you the price of the parts, a PIC 16F877 or 16F876, a MAX232 and a couple or other parts.

Re: PIC Programmer
Actually my program is very small, 450 bytes so far, but the other programmer I used took about 30 seconds for the same program.

Re: PIC Programmer
This is the time it takes the programmer to load a small program to the target. I used Lothar's suggested serial cable programmer using JDM's software to load the bootloader in the original programmer's 16F876 and I had a hell of a hard time to get it to program. When I tried the serial cable to pro...

Re: PIC Programmer
Mr. Philba
A little while back, you referred me to a do it yourself PIC programmer from a guy named Lothar Stolz. I built it and it works great. It will program PICs all the way to the 18 family, and the debug function of MPLAB also works. It programs my 18F4431 PIC in about 5 seconds, it works g...

Re: Ultrasonic cleaning
Mr. Smith
It's funny that you mentioned a microwave oven, I was thinking of putting the whole cartridge in the microwave oven thinking that the high frequency might free up the clogged microscopic holes, but I thought it might also boil the ink to the point where the pressure would spray ink all ...
