Good start Chris. This wasn’t endearing to me, but had he asked properly, I would have been glad to answer instead of ask him a higher question, one I was sure he hadn’t ever thought of. The SCR latches with very little effort, DC in one way will turn on the SCR, the reverse to the gate cancels...

Your post is not just about its header statement?...... If on and off were your only issue when you plug in the wall wart, a simple relay or SCR/ Triac will do that job. As to tapping off the main supply to make two other voltages, yes you can do that as well. You can also add in diodes or the resis...

Your problem is in the gate section. Much like a transistor gate, the middle of the tube needs a jolt. [voltage] Usually around 400 volts, sends the tube into conduction of 4kv. [Flash] Yours seems to keeps the gate open and supplying some form of current to cause a discharge, most likely the SCR th...

You might prefer the P-channel FET solution. A SCR needs a certain minimum current to remain latched, which could be higher than the load current. Also, the voltage drop across the SCR is higher than a diode, probably in the 1 to 2 volt range, and may be unacceptable with a battery supply. 5 ma hol...

As usual, you try so hard to recover your lost body parts, your responses are just a joke. I have many books on many subjects, even ones written for you, like Radio Shack. When dealing with the ignorant or those who refuse to learn, you always keep your options open. Mimms, a laureate, a scholar, a ...

As I said, I already answered mine, more than once. Here is some light reading for you.... The efficiency of thin-film Si cells is even poorer than for wafer-thick Si cells. How to make the cells cheap (using thin films) but also nicely absorptive is an important goal. Scientists at the University o...
