Re: Help with diodes and waves
I understand that electrons flow from negative to positive, and current flows against the diode arrow. What I can't figure out is when the book asks, " will the output be negative or positive", when a diode is put in a circuit with an ac source. If the anode is hooked up to the ac source a...

Help with diodes and waves
I’m reading a textbook on electronics, and I’m in the diode section. They show a circuit with one diode and a resistive load. The cathode is facing away from the AC voltage source. There is an arrow showing the current moving counter clockwise, and it says that only the positive half of the wave wil...

Re: How to tell the value of an inductor?
WHAT IF ONE OF THE UNKNOWN INDUCTORS MIGHT BE AROUND 500 MICRO FARADS, HOW DOES THAT EFFECT THE SIZE OF RESISTOR I SHOULD USE AND FREQUENCY I NEED TO START WITH?<p>THANKS,

Re: How to tell the value of an inductor?
Analogee: I HOOKED UP THE CIRCUITS LIKE YOU DISCRIBED. IF I USE A1K-OHM RESISTOR, AND ADJUST THE FREQUENCY SO I HAVE EQUAL VOLTAGE DROPS ACROSS BOTH THE RESISTOR AND THE INDUCTOR. AT THAT FREQUENCY THE INDUCTIVE REACTANCE SHOULD BE 1K OHMS. SO IF I SOLVE FOR L IN THE XL FORMULA, AND USE 1K AND THE F...

understanding electrical components
Can anybody tell me how to read electrical component, other than resistors? I have some but don't know what they are or there value. If you can not tell me, do you know of a website that would be able to help?
