Re: simulate a windshield wiper motor

I don't like the fighting because the goal is to find a WORKING solution, and many arguments are about methodology. Talk, after all, is cheap. I've done things mechanically the 'old-timer' way with great success, only to have a late-model 'tech from a local Goodyear tire shop' say it CAN'T work. (??...

Re: Can anyone help?

TERRI, GRRRR ! ( no offense taken ) In building loudspeakers, there's a LxWxH 'golden ratio', and I think even in circuits; If T=RC, and the popular usage is 10K and .01uf, who'll use 100uf and 1-ohm ? I was hoping that there was some insane Fourier transform that worked with probability amplitude w...

Re: Need help with center tap Xformer

Stephen, I alluded to your post in a different thread. If you slosh water in a roasting pan, you feel net forces on the outside, without actually losing any water. Like a capacitor. As the charge sloshes back & forth, the variances are output as an AC voltage, albeit small, which we call 'signal...

Re: Can anyone help?

I think the industry standard is an avalanched E-B junction of a bi-polar x-istor. Of course, omitting all those .01uf power supply bypass cap's will yield tons of RF noise as well. I think an interesting project ( college essay topic searchers' hint..) would be to sample noise off an AM radio ( aud...

Re: Need help with center tap Xformer

I don't want to simply throw another terd in the pool, but; In most of my textbooks, rectified DC is shown as consecutive parabolas ( this may be 2-diode center-tap rectification ). However, going through a regular bridge rectifier, it seems that the AC pole reversal occurs at the peaks, not at zero...

Re: Need help with center tap Xformer

Phil, what if you stack two bridge rectifiers? Stacked, with the Pos of one tied to the NEG of the other, using the conjoined AC terminals as a center tap ? The only problem I see is that depending on current draw, the center-tap ground could float wildly. But that in itself may have advantages.....

Re: Selling out repiar shop

Yeah. If you want the most $, you've gotta do what everyone else does; Make a good inventory, & package in $10-$20 baggies with several worthwhile components, & a bunch of fluff for filler. Otherwise people will offer nickels on the good stuff, & you'll be stuck with obsolete junk. You r...

Re: Looking For an advice regarding a research paper

With all due respect, NEED ? A genuine need, or one borne of laziness ? The same web helps the learner to learn and the lazy to circumvent. It'll be moreso a societal commentary than a technical paper. How can you tangibly qualify arbitrary values like opinion and emotion ?<p>*Uhmmmm, like ;I could ...

Re: Boosting AM - Still Done The Same Old Way?

I couldn't resist....
My brother had a Realistic 75W receiver, flywheel 6-gang tuner, in the 80's. He ran 18ga bell wire in the eaves as a 40' dipole. From LI, NY ( or as some gals say ' Lawnk Eye-lunt' ), Baltimore stations came in full stereo. Nice.
