Re: Basic Inductor Question

On the voltage/current discussion; The Inductor technically stores a magnetic field, which is able to move electrons (create a current) as its size changes with time.(As the field enlarges, the 'lines of force' cross the windings of the coil, and either absorb or yield energy)But you really cannot h...

capacitor types

I can't find this info in any of my textbooks. What are the advantages(pro's/cons) between the different tpes of capacitors? ( Mylar/Mica/ Tantalum/Ceramic/Electrolytic) My understanding is that Tantalum is for low- leakage, Ceramic for Hi-Freq.,and Electrolytic is for Hi-capacitance in a small size...

Re: 1968 Bronco Temp Guage

A few more things to consider with Ford gauges: A) many older vehicles had a 5V regulator on the edge of the PC board which looks like a cicuit breaker. when it fails, all the gauges go wacky. B) SOME use a shielded wedge-base bulb (like a #194,but not) as a resistor/regulator. This is more common o...

Re: diode

WITH TWO DIODES AND A COUPLE OF CAPACITORS, YOU CAN MAKE A VOLTAGE DOUBLER. THE ONLY APPLICATION
I WOULD SEE THIS AS USEFUL WOULD BE AS A CLASS-C
AMLIFIER, BOOSTING VOLTAGE ON THE OUTPUT SIDE OF
A FREQ.MODULATED RF AMP. BUT I DON'T THIK YOU'D
GET POWER AMPLIFICATION, JUST VOLTAGE BOOST

Re: REDUCING 12 VOLTS TO 3

BOTH EXCELLENT. I MIGHT ALSO TRY USING A HEATER-FAN RESISTOR FOR THE FAN MOTOR. IT WILL TAKE THE
CURRENT IF USED AS A DIVIDER ( WORST CASE, ULTRA
CHEAPO OPTION.) THEN REGULATE THE TAP CLOSEST TO
YOUR 3V.

Re: op-amp circuit with gain of 100

ALL EXCELLENT !! BUT ISN'T THE LM358 AUDIO AMP CAPABLE OF A GAIN OF 200 ?? I SUGGEST READING "PRACTICAL ELECTRONICS FOR INVENTORS"(AVAILABLE @ BORDER'S, OR THROUGH NUTS-VOLTS BOOKSTORE). IT SHOWS A SCHEMATIC. I ALSO SUGGEST "THE HISTORY OF PI" BY PETR BECKMANN. GOOD READING FOR THE ERUDITE. GOOD LUC...

Re: New style 3rd brake light

FIRST OFF, SUPER-BRIGHT LED'S OR LOW-POWER BULBS FOR OUTPUT, DRIVEN BY TIP-29C OR 2N3055 TRANSISTORS. RELAYS SHOULDN'T BE NECESSARY. AS FOR THE TIMERS, A 556 IS TIMED BY AN EXTERNAL R/C NETWORK, SO I WOULD:\ TIME 1/2 FOR 2hz FREE RUNNING FOR THE BLINK SET THE OTHER 1/2 FOR STABLE HIGH OUT AFTER 2-SE...

Re: Electronics Thesis

what about a mathematical model and simplest circuit design for a bandpass Rf filter , say 10Khz to 900Mhz, which will start with the strongest signal, store frequency, modulation type, and signal type ( 77Mhz/FM/digital data ), and then disallow that frequency, and proceed until all signals in the m...
